    Hello

Why are 3-5 letter names so much even if there so crappy like xame, hoo < going for like 50 thousand.

Stuff like that makes no sense

uhk.com selling for 15k, what the hell is uhk!
    xai.com 6k ....

So it doesnt matter what the 3 letter domain says, it sells for shit loads?

    Thanks

    Tyler

Pretty much, but if the letters do spell a word then they are worth even more. It is because of the rarity - they have all been registered for a start, and there are (relatively) few three letter combinations, so like everything else, the less of it there is the more it is worth.

well if you do a search on google for uhk for example you get did you mean: university of hong kong

so I guess one of the reasons these domains are so highly priced is because there are endless abbreviations from three and four letters combinations.

    I agree SoftCloud.

There are many, many reason why these names are worth more.

Here are my top 5 Reasons!

    *Rarity
There are only 17,576 LLL.coms and only 456,976 LLLL.coms and there are almost 7 billions humans. With collectors, companies, private interests and other people who just want a short name, its easy to see the rarity in such a large number.

    *Acronyms & Abbreviations
Business's, Schools, Stock Symbols, Text Type, Peoples Names, etc..

    *Fewer Keystrokes
Not everyone uses bookmarks or favorites. A domain name with only 3-5 characters is faster and easier to type.

    *Brandable
Short, 3-6, character domain names are easy to brand. Especially if it is a pronouncable sound or word with no current meaning. Having a generic word domain name gives you the ability to make your own meaning/brand name!

    *Memorable
It is usually easier for a website visitor to remember a short domain name especially if they don't know they will be re-visiting in the future. Also shorter names are more likely to recieve "word of mouth" traffic.

Because they're rare & all bought out ages ago. Personally, I'd rather buy xai.com for $6k than uhk.com for 15k as the 1st one has a better letter combo even with the "x" in front & can be pronouncable as well

This post pretty much sums up all the reason why LLL.com and LLLL.com are so valuable.

Mostly because they're scarce. 3 - 4 letter domains are also often valid acronyms.
