Why am I not seeing a Page Rank Increase?

I’m more than a bit curious why I am not seeing page rank increases for my site http://www.aneurysmsupport.com/ The site has been online since last December and achieved page rank 1 around February or March. According to Yahoo Site explorer it has around 1500 back links, a fair amount of content, and has been updated regularly. There are few external links and no ads. The content is original and of, I think, good quality. I really expected an increase by now. Anyone have any thoughts?

The reasoning for this is simply that Google haven't updated the PageRank publically for a while. It's getting to the point where they will but there is no set timescale to which they stick to. Many thought that it was 3 months so that they did it four times a year which seemed to be the norm but recently nothing has moved.

Take this time to build more high profile links and rather than wait for the update, make full advantage of the delay and get those extra PR links in.

simply because Page Rank has not updated. lol. It's hard to remember sometimes when you're working on SEO tasks, but there are things which are out of our control, additionally when you're stuck at a certain # in SERPS try and remember that your competitors are probably building links as well!

Wait for the next Google update that may happen at the end of this month probably. Else work on your back links and on page optimization.

Does anyone think that google might NOT update pagerank again? They were doing it in a pretty consistent pattern, then came all the rumors that google was going to ditch PR and now here we are waaaaaay overdue for the last PR update. Anyone else worried that it may never come?

Personally, it's killing me. I launched several big sites right after the last PR update and I think most of them would be PR4 by now, but no update means they're sitting at PR0-PR2 and good link exchanges are out of the question.

I agree, but page rank is not all about backlinks.

Just to make it clear - what people are talking about updating here is the google toolbar. the Pagerank data is toolbar data, and this is updated whenever Google get around to it, every few months usually.

Personally though I would say ignore PR.

Just think about what value PR actually offers anyone - in terms of toolbar PR? The truth is that Google realised they'd made a rod for their own back with the PR toolbar, because PR then turned into a commodity - and selling backlinks based on PR of the linking site became a real pain in the backside for them.

I can't see any reason why Google would continue to update the toolbar in an effective way, i.e. they may update it - but it may not be correct, what do Google stand to gain by ensuring that the toolbar data is correct?

I've seen a number of sites that appear to have dropped in PR which has had no effect to rankings.

Pagerank will always be important - i.e. the TRUE pagerank data which Google do not share - but the google toolbar I personally believe stopped giving anything of true value a couple of years ago.

Kev, I agree with much of what you say. I have had, at times, with this site great page rank-number two or three on page one it varies with how much link building I do. I am starting to wonder if Google is not doing away with page rank.

Who cares about PR? It's worthless. If you want traffic, focus on relevancy. For some reason, everybody has a love affair with PR. You are wasting your time worrying about PR. It is one of about 1000 different ranking factors. Focus on getting relevant keyword rich text links.

Ask yourself: "Do I want traffic or a green bar?"

Why you care about pagerank? Care about traffic! If during that period your traffic increased, then you are OK and what you are doing is right thing.
PageRank doesn't bring you traffic. If you plan to make some money on your website, serious people will pay for website with high traffic and not high PR. The same if you sell your website.
I had website with PR4 and with 0 visitors and I have website with PR0 and 1000 unique visitors from US and Canada a day. That site brings me monthly several hundreds, while PR4 site $0.
The reason PR has not updated yet, as it not important anymore and one day it will be simply hided from the toolbar. Stop concentrating on PR, increase your traffic and that will bring you money, not PR.
PR only good for selling links, but it just nothing compared to what you can make from the traffic. And when PR will disappear, all businesses and income around PR will disappear, but income from traffic will stay.
PR is virtual, traffic is real!

Guys, we are getting away from the original question. I am not debating the relative merits, or lack thereof, of page rank, just why this particular site is not seeing a page rank increase.
