Hello DP members, I have a site I've been doing SEO for. The keywords are "free paypal money" which I'm #4 for. The #1 site is freepaypalmoney.com and my site is freepaypalmoney.org. The first result has only 72 inbound links from forums and blogs, a PR 0, and Alexa rank of 1,200,000. My site has 600 inbound links, a PR 1, and Alexa rank of 770,000. Why am I not ranking better? The only thing I can think of is that their domain is 2 years old and mine is 3 months old.
The age can have something to do with it, sometimes it can have to do with the coding too. Also, did you buy this domain for one year or for a longer period? If you bought it for one year and they pre-paid theirs for a couple of years, google can give them an advantage as they look more serious. Just keep working on your site and I'm sure you'll outrank them soon. Leslie
I was deciding if I should buy the domain for a year or two but went with one since I didn't know anything about SEO and had no clue if I could even rank well. So basically my domain is expiring in 9 months while theirs in 1 year 6 months.
Try some good online SEO Tools Like Backlink Checker, Yahoo Site Explorer and try to comment and leave your Link many more sub domain related websites....
that is also one factor that you are newer to them ..but you can overcome this thing..you can use some SEO on-page tech and off page technique to get good ranking...In On page ranking, you can do article posting and social book marking of your site to other sites..that will improve your PR. in Off -page, you can modify your page to get better PR. i,e..very appropriate tile, using keywords in H1 tag, Image alt tag..
other site is aound since 2005 and your site since last year. so your competitor has been building links lot longer than you. they might have lss backlinks but its not the number of backlinks that is important always, its the quality of backlinks as well. just keep building backlinks and you should climb up higher over time. try to add some more content on your homepage and add few more pages on your site. your site hardly have any content right now
It is quality of backlinks and it is also how many times you used your anchor text "free paypal money". Just keep building links and you would outrank the site (if the owner is not also actively building links too)
