I do not know how many of you run Adult sites; but if you do then I would appreciate some feed back on why I maybe getting poor traffic.... I have setup a couple Adult tube sites; traffic seems to increase; The problem is, the traffic seems to be poor quality at best, almost as if they are unsure what they are looking for, as far as they appear via search, they are gone. so this means I have a very high bounce rate.... So far today I have gotten 250 u/v 200 of the hits were gone within 10 seconds. the remaining traffic maybe have been gone within 1-2 min (at best) as you know, most videos at a min are around 5 min long.... Am I doing something wrong, or is this to be expected from adult traffic? I know you need more adult traffic compared to other niches, but what I am seeing so far, is very, very, very low quality traffic, so I would like to be able to improve the quality, but not sure what to do....
Is your traffic targeted ? and what about the quality of the videos, are they good enough to be looked at? I dont think adult traffic is different than any other niche as long as it is targeted.
like most tube sites below the major tiers, they pull videos from porntube, pornhub, etc.... not so sure about targeting, quite a bit of what people search for do appear in the videos titles, but quite a bit does. My guess would probably be no, as I would think what ever they search for, something may come up, it may or may not be what they are looking for, however they are porn videos, but I am not sure how you would really target 1000's and 1000's of videos, and more imported daily....
Trying to figure out why I have spent at least couple months with steady/increase of traffic just for the traffic to drop off 75% one day later. I was doing ok, traffic was slowly increasing, then in just one day, my traffic drops 75%
Google has been aggressive in pushing porn sites down in their page ranks these past couple of updates. Penguin hurt a lot of adult tube sites, and continues to impact the quality of traffic of these sites. Bounce rates can be high even with an adult tube site. Sometimes simple changes to the layout or video names can improve that though!
Maybe use more promotion for your site would help? I think once people get to know your site and trust it (i.e. not riddled with adware or popups) google becomes less important
Adult sites will never rank really high in google because the content isn't really informative(don't know how to say this in other words) Never expect a high pagerank, even the big porn sites don't have them. Your content comes from big other sites, why not providing in new content. A viewer of your website expects something new and exciting. What he can see in 1000 other places will not encourage them to come back.
I understand what you are saying, videos are composed of title and keywords.... it would be impossible to add unique content for videos in mass, unless the user has decided to do it, then there probably will be no more content then title and tags... you are right, no argument there...
that sounds fair, not only that, it is not very difficult to remember the top few porn tubes, so that is just is just easy traffic off the bat.... my domain is fairly easy to remember, but they may not know some of the sub-domains that i am using, so once my keywords dropped out of site of rankings, then it is obvious that I would loose traffic in that manner.... Most people start off by setting up low quality tubes from the start, not only that they choose domains for seo/traffic purposes, rather then brandability, so I understand the high risk in setting up a tube in a very competive market; just like the job market, companies are unsure, so they are unwilling to invest more, or even hire.... In order to setup a true high quality / brandable tube can cost some serious money and time, and even then, you have that unsure feeling, and that feeling of doubt, and doubt really holds people back from moving forward, and i can relate to how risking it is setting up a good tube that can cost serious money, traffic is so unpredictable, you never know what they are doing to do, or even how long they will stay, and you do not make money if they just watch videos, you make money if they click on ads that pay, or if they signup to your premium (if you offer premium) and hope and pray on word of mouth...
I think, you must promote some videos and do social media optimization for the same. Optimize the content with articles and blogs etc...
From my experience adult traffic typically does not convert well. If you compare it to other niches you might be disappointed but if you have a good adult site, you'll get alot of traffic which is where the money is made, in volume.
I already somewhat knew that, adult traffic is highly unpredictable, and its a numbers game, so you just need higher numbers then you would with something that maybe more specific niche.... and that is key, you need a domain so people will remember to come back, and you need a good porn script, and if you are not a designer, then some expensive custom design.... in order to do it right right, then I will bet you will need a few pennies to get everything setup....
I have been playing this adult webmaster game since 2009 and one of my site ( http://www.desihoes.com ) is slowly increasing in traffic. You have to do lot of work advertising and posting inks in forums and directories without being spammy. One thing I have noticed with Google anytime they do an update my traffic increases whole lot, but only for couple of days. On last Google update traffic went to 17000 U/V per day and now it is back down to 10K per day. dscurlock.. You have asked a million dollar question.
Is your videos in at least 420p? If any of them are to the point of pixelation or they are in a 4:3 format i would remove them in favor for some good ones that are widescreen. What kind of adult-niche are you targeting? If i search for "blonde xxx" and see a lot of black haired women i might just leave the site right away and go to another site that got what i want..
