Why am I getting an error when I try and upload through cpanel?

When I try and upload a file or rename a file I am getting an error stating that "Permission denied".

Help.

chmod 755 to that directory.
if can't work, check the directory ownership is set under your username.

 

Not sure how to do that, can you explain it for a beginner?

 

You'll need an ftp program, then just right click on the directory and select chmod.

 

In the file manager..
click on the directory...
on the right side, it will show some info about this directory.

make sure it is chmod to 755 and under your username.

Just select the directory it should show ownership you can change ownership from shell

the code I see right now is 6 6 6 but all read and write are checked, is that what you are talking about?

 

Where do I select the directory....I can't see the onwership in FTP/cpanel's file manager.
