    Loco kinda did.

I'd have to agree. I see no other reason, other than say personal experience, e.g. they are using the service themselves and feel compelled to share with others their positive and or negative experiences.

OK, many will probably recommend them only because of the affiliate link, but why you don't believe that there are happy customers that just share their experience ...

I am affiliated with HostGator and you may find their review by following my signature link. BUT! HostGator is a really great web hosting. I am using it at the very moment for dozens of my websites and I am happy with it. So answering your question: 50/50. People recommend them for both reasons: because of good affiliate commissions and great service.

I can't comment about Godaddy, but i had some real good experience with HostGator services
one of my clients had 25+ wordpress blogs on HG's baby starter plan and we all know how much server resources a big wordpress site needs so, overall its some great service in just 3.95$ p/month. also, most of the big/medium hosting companies have affiliate programs which pays some part of the sale so many people promote them to earn some good bucks too.

You promote a companies product/services and the company pays you some commission for the same that's what an affiliate program is

I would never recommend any of those due to following reasons:

    1. Total overload because of unlimited plans.
    2. The moment clients starts getting a little over average traffic they start facing problems.

People just tend to write whatever comes to their mind, so those companies few of the leading companies is why are suggested every now and then but yes, its a total failure when it comes to technicalities.

And yes, because they pay good affiliate commission, people tend to refer potential clients to them using affiliate links.

Its a simple logic, if someone is paying $60 just for a referral, when the new client would only be paying $4 a month, how do you think those companies are making money?

they offer unlimited features because they have invested some huge bucks into various data centers and powerful up-to date state of the art servers. what all hosting companies cares about is server resources utilization so, whether you are dealing with a big company or a small you will have to optimize your database so that it won't overload the server and your site won't end up being terminated because of the same.

People tend to refer companies that have been in the industry for a long-time, therefore have created a reliable image in the eyes of customers.

    1. These companies are paid Good commissions to affiliates.
    2. They spent 100s on advertising nothing else.
-This is simple and easy - If you need to sell your WORST PRODUCT you have to do best advertising. Simple marketing strategy - these people use, seriously read reviews or search Google you will find 100s of SCAMS. They Pay Paypal and Credit Card Companies to do this. They don't have anything special just show off..

i'm looking for hosting that will be around for a number of years and the only logical ones would be the big ones.. other's have a good chance of going away at any time.. tell me one hosting company - other than the ones you mentioned - that have been around longer, offer great service, and will be here in 10 years.
