Why all hacks using .html ?

Hi-

Why SEF things need .html extension ?
If you look at many SEO hacks, mods for differnt dynamic systems, you will see most of then ending up with having .html extension. I'm wonderig why no one using a .php or any other extensions ?

Can anyone shed some light?

PS: I'm still learning.

 

I dont use a html extension, actually my site doesnt use extensions period.


Works fine and im ranking pretty high for the words im targetting ( in msn for now, google some).

 

Many years ago some search engines had difficulty reading pages that were not .html
(I am told)
This is no longer true - when you read a SEF/SEO document try to find out how old the information is first.

 

Ok, Agree that. But still,why new hacks used to end with html extension ?

or even the VB modding gives at the end html extension. Is there any advantage in using html ? compared to other extensions ?

 

The hacks are redundant. I'm with sadcox, I use no extensions - not for SE's but they look cleaner to the user

 

I'm wondering how can you make your websites with out any extension ?

( Sorry I'm a newbie )

The method will depend on what http server you are using, and also what filetype you have to begin with.

Does that mean you can get good SERPS for sites without full urls (with extension )

Like permalinks in wordpress ?
