I have been working hard on getting inbound links for my website since 3 weeks (Its only 3 weeks old and a PR2). I have got almost 30 links till date. And a few article submissions at ezine, goarticles etc. MSN and Yahoo both show the backlinks while google doesnt show even a single backlink? Any ideas why this is happening?
I had read somewhere in the forum that google updates backlinks regularly nowadays.. but it doesnt look to be the case here. I have even bought a few backlinks from a high PR website recently (I got them cheap) ;) . So I was really hoping that they update those backlinks. MCDAR also doesnt show the backlinks while programs like SEO ELITE, SEO STUDIO etc show them. Any help will be appreciated. I really feel terrible after working hard on the getting those backlinks...

You are not alone. I have a PR 5 site which has a one way link coming from a PR 6 page, and a PR 7, along with numerous PR 5 sites. Yet, Google has not increased my ranking to a PR 6, and I've had these one way links for well over a month.

I've been building websites since 2004, and I have no idea what Google is doing. It usually takes about three months between updates, and last year Google had all the sites updated by January 15.

I talked to another webmaster who has over 60 websites and only 5 of them has got any PR this update, and only one of my blogs got PR.

I have no idea what Google is doing, and it pisses me off to................The damn toolbar keeps changing also.

You should consider checking out the 'live pagerank' plugin for Firefox. I find it a lot more valuable than 'exported pagerank' simply because exported pagerank doesn't actually matter -- at all. live pagerank is all that matters because that is all the DCs are using to give SERPs through.

the google 'exports' only happen every 3-4 months, so don't hold your breath..unless you want to pass out and miss the update :p

Just to relieve my own frustration I always wait six months to even check on backlink updates.

The way I figure it is me and my clients are in it for the long run, we buy links, get those sites indexed with DMOZ as best we can, and someday those links will be counted. It's a long time to wait but if you leave the actual linking to a third party that can help save you time. You just have to help the third party a little by submitting their sites which is a fraction of the time it takes them to place my links, much faster than I would have anyways.

When I'm marketing for short-run money I'd rather invest in YPN and Adwords.

Having other ppl in the same boat is nice  But this boat aint good. I think google has started bossing around as they are the leaders now. They have so much in their plate in so lil time that they dont have time to do these petty things (which as a matter of fact got them their position). base.google.com shows that they have now started competing with ebay, amazon etc... they are just expanding like a balloon.
