How true, you get involved in other areas of life and your focus wanders. If you really want to succeed you have to stay focused, stay on the ball and be involved. If you don't theres 100 other people who are focused-who do you think will succeed first, you or them.

This internet business stuff requires a lot of attention. You'll just have to sacrifice a little to gain.

The issue is....is that these people get these emails saying, "Make $12,367.00 a week! Doing Nothing!"

So the sales pitch gives them the impression that they don't need to work at it.

What's interesting is, how markters use the "odd" set of numbers to make the income sound more believable.

I mean, it's impossible to think someone makes 12,000.00 even a week, but the number above? That's realistic!" :)

    Lots of great opinions here.
People, businesses fail all the time. I read a statistic that something like 3,000 restaurants fail in manhattan every year and an equal amount start up. Failure is part of life and those who don't try never fail! Online the story is sort of the same. I have heard and read claims, on this forum as well, "get 30,000 links in an hour while you are in the pool sipping margaritas". We all want to believe it is really possible although we doubt somewhere that it is really possible. I agree a good plan, determination, ability to change direction and so many other qualities define a winner versus a loser. I dont agree that having high expectations is a problem. A far greater problem is giving up because success hasn't arrived. Some of us are going to succeed while others are doomed. The fact is life offers no guarantees, why should this thing called the internet?

    Really interesting thread!

The internet age is still in it's infancy, it's my opinion that this get-rich-quick attitude to the net is similar to the .com 'boom & bust' scenario a few years ago. The reality is that it's just as hard to make money online as it is to make money in the real world.

The winners will be the people who realise this the quickest. Let the fools carry on buying their magical 'how-to make $10,000 a week" e-books!

For the rest of us, continue to work hard on creating content and promoting that content, and you've stolen a huge march on the majority.

    To your success,

    John.

Maybe I'm being naive here, but I have to think that a large part of failing at the internet business game has more to do with the idea being sold. Sure, not spending enough time on a site is going to hurt, but if the website itself isn't quality (that is, doesn't give a reason for visitors to stay or tell others about it) then it doesn't matter how much time or effort is put into the website. It's going to fail.

I've seen that same statistic, and don't agree with it any longer.
People are shrewd enough not to get into a business these days if it will take 3 years to become profitable.
We live too fast, and technology continues to swallow up the advertising world.
Even brick and mortar ventures can be turbo-charged, as with online businesses.

I always find my self expecting to see results instantly. I have learned through time that hard work, persistence and dedication pays off in the end.

    Hi Guys

I also think that some people are scared to invest money online. One has to review the product first and after careful research if the product has a lot of talk, I don't see any reason why they should go back not investing.

According to me a real business always requires investment as we know
"It takes money to make money".

    Thanks

I don't even have to read your thread because I saw your signature saying $10k-$100k per month....if I just had a penny for every time I saw those type of silly ads I would really be making $25k per month!!

Sorry I did not read all the posts...the link in his signature is interesting because it actually debunks what he is stating here, that people don't spend enough time on their projects. The sales page states that you can work less than 40 hours a week like the success story there.

The best thing to do is work together, which people don't do because they're in it for themselves.
