Web directories, blog directories, social bookmarking, blog commenting, buying sitewides, buying blog posts, rss directories, sig links, or creating content so fabulous that others cant help but link to it.

Oh yeah, sponsoring templates/themes, ie: wordpress footer links etc

Some methods mentioned above can lead to problems, loss of pr, penalisation etc.

All of the above mentioned are safe in moderation and when done sensibly and at the same time all have potential to be damaging if done incorrectly.

 

Don't forget good ol' asking other webmasters for links. Works like a charm, especially if you have something to offer up in exchange.

 

Consider hiring a copywriter (not to be confused with a copyright) to help build up your content base.

 

There are many ways to build links but we recommend using a service like http://www.catanich.com/link-building-services.asp so you don't waste you time with junk links.

Blog and Forum links are the best though.

 

The most easiest is forum posting and blog commenting.

 

In addition to many of the above-listed strategies, I use:

• An AddThis.com button on each page. I find about 150-200 of my pages each month are "added" this way. Most of them are "bookmarked", so not necessarily a link. But a pretty good number of those monthly "added" pages are links.

• Direct email to qualified leads in my specific niche.

 

Just get one link from yahoo directory and another from business.com and there is no need to do link building. These two links are enough for higher ranking and higher page rank.

ROFLMAO If it were that easy then everyone would be on page 1. It might be enough for some VERY NON-competitive keyword, but those two links won't even get you in the top 10000 for some competive keywords.

You can NEVER have too many links... The more links a URL has to it, the more 'votes' for your site in Google's eyes and the more authoritative your site becomes.

i am using forum posting and blog commenting. i did not tried others, but others like article submission, directory submissions work.

There are tons of linkbuilding techniques that you can do. To cite a few - forum posting, blogging, directory submission, article submission, social bookmarking, networking, link exchange, etc.

Directory submission with good page rank
Do follow blogs related to your website or blog
Forum posting
Create your own blog and update recent news and submit you blog to blog directories.

I think everything already explained. The main thing in link building is the relevancy. Maintain the relevancy factor and you will gain then.
