RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.
RSS solves a problem for people who regularly use the web. It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving the latest content from the sites you are interested in.

RSS is a format for syndicating news and the content of news-like sites, including major news sites like Wired, news-oriented community sites like Slashdot, and personal weblogs. But it's not just for news. Pretty much anything that can be broken down into discrete items can be syndicated via RSS: the "recent changes" page of a wiki, a changelog of CVS checkins, even the revision history of a book. Once information about each item is in RSS format, an RSS-aware program can check the feed for changes and react to the changes in an appropriate way.

RSS-aware programs called news aggregators are popular in the weblogging community. Many weblogs make content available in RSS. A news aggregator can help you keep up with all your favorite weblogs by checking their RSS feeds and displaying new items from each of them.

    Really Simple Syndication
Used to publish frequently updated content such as blogentries, news headlines, and podcasts in a standardized format. An RSS document (which is called a feed, web feed, or channel) contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text.

RSS ("Really Simple Syndication") is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format. Through rss feed, we can get the updates frequently. To get started there are tools available for the reasonably savvy do-it-yourself, such as ExtraLabs Software’s Feed Editor or NotePage’s FeedforAll, are the softwares for creating RSS. FeedforAll’s wizard-driven solution can walk you through creating a standard RSS feed, a standard podcast
