Godaddy, Moniker or Namecheap. If you want the most secure registrar, go with Moniker

I have been using Gem3.com for years. Cheap domains, great panel and excellent support.

Godaddy, frankly because it was my first registrar.

My favourite is Dynadot, as they accept Moneybookers payments.

Godaddy sucks. They can screw you in a snap.
With them you do not control your own domain. They just make you a favor to think you are the owner, in fact you are not.
They will take down your domain upon single spam report.
and they do not give you a hcance to explain or take action from your side.
It may take you countless phone calls and up to a month to get it back and if you live outside the US, forget about it.
Imagine if this domain brings you $100 per day?

It happened to others, it will happen to you at some point.
If you are serious about your domains and online business,
    never host it at Godaddy.
Just transfer from there when you have a chance.

Namecheap seems to be the top of it.
You may find cheaper, but you will not find a better user-friendly
and clean interface (godaddy's interface is crammed with additional offers and other ads, makes a VERY bad impression).

1and1 - they give free private registrations and have very consistent pricing (registration and renewal prices are pretty same - unlike other registrars who rip you for renewal)
