Who's tired of stupid pointless threads?

Here is my 2pence worth for what it is worth;

I think not counting posts in general chat, to stop people posting simply because they want to get to 5,000 posts is a good idea Personally, it wouldn't bother me either way.

Reputation, as I mentioned in the other thread is useful for when you are doing business with another member. If it could be linked somehow to the buy/sell forum and then ditch it elsewhere, I'm happy with that.

General Chat

I think its limited to a small number of people that promote their sites in there - maybe give them a small ban for a few days - it's not the place, and we have the buy/sell/services forum to promote your services or products.

The posts in general - some are good fun, the ones that aren't I ignore them, if a member is "doing my head in" then I can ignore them (and they can do likewise to me)

I found a FAQ post Nintendo wrote, and found it very interesting and useful, he wrote that ages ago, I'd never visited that part of the forum before, so why not have a FAQ forum for these posts to go?

I have to admit to be guilty of starting posts asking for information, rather than searching for the forum for the answer. Is there you could maybe have a seperate section away from the forum, where we can visit and enter in a search - rather than finding the search feature on the forum.

I think more people are likely to bookmark it and visit that page rather than searching on the forum, when its easier to ask someone else.

If I can say my opinion:


I agree with Hodgedup partly, and partly disagree. Here is why.

I agree becouse there are "stupid pointless threads".

-There are threads that have nothing to read in them.

-There are threads that circle around, have hundrets of posts and I never read anything in them, becouse they are like dust.

-And what most bother me are posts in threads that totaly drive me out of matter. And that is not problem only in general chat. Everywhere.

I disagree

becouse general chat is place where you can come and forget your daily rutine.

Place where people come becouse there are friends.

Everyone can write something usefull.

Share thinking.

Ask for advice.

Make personal decision better.

AND MEMBERS USING THAT.

And general chat represent overal state of consciousness of DP forum members

it is like everyone place where you go. You meet different people. Different way of thinking. And, as I think, I (or anyone) have no right to change that.

General chat is what it is, and really I think that is how should be. And everyone can choose to be there or not.


I for months didn`t know for other parts of DP except AdSense. I have bookmark of him. But, now I didn`t even go there. I cant find anything there. I cant remember when I read something usefull. But, what to say, I learned what I had to learn about adsense. And that is it.

Now I share what to have to share, here and there. I give some advice on this or that.

But I love you people! I love all different ways of thinking, and living. And this is what I respect most here. I like when I read some strong, motivating thread. Then I read some awfull thing. Everything is here. Manage that or not, you have right to choose.

Here you have right to choose! Is there anything better?



btw, this is my longest post ever, in my life sorry for my bad eng, I cant manage to write everything I want..
btw2, I am not here for a long time, and I usually do not post in threads where BIG members discuss.

It's way too late for her to do anything about it now. Once something like that hits the internet it spreads like fire. She can't contact the owner of 1,000,000 sites.

Vlada: Very good points. I think people who feels that chat is unnecessary, should avoid that perticular forum and concentrate more on other sections which they suit most. I personally like the chat and love the people who regularly posts there. So far I have learnt a lot from this forums and made hell of friends most fo them regularly post on Chat .

 

I think you and a few others need to re-read these posts.

The issue is NOT whether GC should be deleted. The issue is the content of GC.

I feel kinda guilty for asking her for the url, but she was so vague saying "help me flag that site" without telling us what it was or what it was all about.

 

Well maybe it actually did some good Mike - I flagged it; only time will tell.

I have to agree... a lot of the other posts in the other sections mostly have "refer to older posts' or "go search for it"

But i guess it is inevitable.

 

I know I haven't always been a part of the solution, but lately the person above you and 3 word thread are getting extremely annoying, especially since every newbie think he can come in there, post some complete nonsense, and move right on to getting a signature and post in b/s/t.

I do think something should be done
