Definetely agree here, all of our content is written from scratch, nothing at all duplicated.

I don't check keyword density, we just write the content and the keyword density is what it is. I'm only trying to rank on terms that are mentioned a lot in the content anyway, so I dont think there is an issue here. I think the only problem is if you spam it full, or its not mentioned at all.

I would say if there was one single part of SEO that is the highest priority, this is it for sure.

I haven't read all this thread so forgive me if it's been mentioned - I read that much on 'G' penalising sites that use or sell paid links it scares me to do it, I've cancelled my 4 subscriptions for paid PR links (ok half of them dropped PR on the recent update but I still would have cancelled..) and I would never sell paid links on my site. I think this is because I'm trying to get a user base on my site, one that can be trusted, one that the search engines love and have nothing to stop it from getting to the top.

Ya, I know nothing about SEO, I just rank #2 for example for funny pictures because I'm lucky. You take what I said out of context.

Ssandecki, do you consider your link exchanging cheating? I wouldn't really see it as any different from my link buying. Its not natural linking.

edit- in fact I would go one further and say its probably the same - its buying links. You offer a link in return, I offer cash. Any difference?

yes, and I wont be stopping anytime soon ;)

Buy links for traffic and exposure, and not for something silly like PageRank :p

Google TOS states you cannot do "excessive link" exchanges, which I do not. 90% of my links are from people using my "post this piocture on your site" code.

I do not believe in any way, shape or form that I took what you said out of context. I may have been just a little harsh in the way I explained it.

"Funny pictures" is not necessarily a keyword phrase that I would brag about when talking about SEO, it's rather low paying "$0.28 - $0.52" although I'm sure it brings you a nice amount of traffic.

By the way you may want to check out your serps position again.

Funny Pictures will pay way less than that if you're talking per click. But price per click isn't everything, its still a great achievement to get on the top half of page 1 on anything with 32 million results.

Yes I agree with you there. That was cost per, not actual pay, that would be way less when compared. I agree, top half of the page is a great place to be.

Earns $1,200.00+ monthly when using ValueClick Media & Real Tech Network, I'm only recently started testing AdSense on the site, AdSense is around $18-24 dollars a day using image only ads. My big money is pageviews, I do easily 200,000 to 300,000 pageviews daily. CPM earns me much more than CPC.

In the spirit of brainstorming, here is a proposed algorithm (note I am not disagreeing with you, only brainstorming) :)

If the garden gnome seller has purchased other more obvious links, you site could get flagged (not penalized) for selling link to a known link-buyer. Then if there is an accumulation of many such flags for your site (either in absolute number terms, or more likely percentage terms), your flags might turn red, and there could be a penalty. In helping some fellow webmasters try and figure out when their blogs/sites lost PR dramatically, this was the best I could come up with. It was consistent with the facts: Where most OBLs were paid, Google figured it out :)
