Who's Best for Website Payment Processing . . . ?

Currently, I am a little out of the loop when it comes to payment processing solutions for small business websites.

I know the Authorize.Net solutions pretty well and am quite familiar with their integration, but I'm looking for something cheaper and yet just as seamless as Authorize.Net — something geared towards start-up small businesses.

What's the best solution for a small business that needs online payment processing (mostly credit cards)?

Is there a good all-in-one solution with a shopping cart, merchant account and payment gateway?

    Any and all suggestions welcome!

I would say paypal is the best and most well known and they have the force of Ebay behind them. I have used them several years and have never had a problem.

it depends what you need - we use authorize.net for some items because we offer "subscription" based products and authorize.net offers the recurring billing feature

Goody, goody . . . so much to choose from.

Thank you very much for your responses. You're awesome!

Basically, what I am after is a simple solution that can be integrated into a small business website (no off-site links). Authorize.Net is good for most of my clients, but this is a small company that wants something "less expensive" (and yet, they don't want to go with PayPal or Google Checkout).

This is all US-based, so I was hoping for something that is relatively inexpensive and not more complicated than Authorize.Net.

    Hope that makes sense . . . ?

unfortunatley smaller or new businesses usually mean worse credit, which equals higher rates...

If you have not decided on who to go with, I would recommend 2CO because they are accepted in most countries that PayPal is not.

Your client is being cheap. Paypal is the online standard, the one customers are most familiar with, and therefore the one that will inspire most confidence. Going for other options just increases the risks involved.

$600 is a defalt. You can go in and lower your release level using the banking wizard. Depending on how you are paid, you can lower it to $10 USD .

compared to Paypal they are REALLY expensive

PLUS they called some of my clients all the time,
hassling them and making them nervous about my services...

not a good business partner IMHO
