I'm 33 years old and my 3 year old Daughter is braver than I am when it comes to going to the Dentist. I've had a series of surreal dental experiences that I can't even begin to get into right now. Today I went in for what I thought was a whitening/bleaching treatment and discovered they had me scheduled for some other thing that involved numbing, bleeding, and about a week of discomfort. I found this out when they handed me a pair of goggles to put on. I asked why, and was told that I should wear them just in case of blood splatter! I ended up walking out and rescheduling. I felt pretty lame in doing so, but if I ended up in a lot of pain AGAIN, who knows how long it would take me to get back in there. Better to mentally prepare for that kind of stuff ahead of time IMO. Are any of you like me? I'm shaking right now 30 minutes later. I must have some sort of phobia.
I'm not afraid of the dentist. However I don't like it when the doc is working at my teeths. But at least the pain goes and I'm happy smiling after
ummm yeah, goggles would be a very bad thing!! by the same token, I'm more leery of the sadomasochist hygienists than I am of the dentists themselves...."you need to floss more"....wow, why didn't I think of that???
I love the dentist, especially when they have to put you under... cuz then you get a prize from the treasure chest
I have a theory that everytime you go for a checkup, and they dig around with that sharp instrument, they're scratching dents in. So next time, you need a filling.. I used to have to have fillings every single time I went to the dentist, I haven't been in the past two years since a botched filling led to me having root canal. And i've had no problems since - coincidence? hehe
hahha, yeah... it's true.... Dentists are the Mouth Mechanics of the world.... Careful who you use....
LOL. Very possible. I hate dentists or I used to. I had a very bad overbite when I was a kid, so I had to wear a retainer that made me keep my mouth shut for 2 years. Then I had to get 2 molars removed and wear something to create a gap on the sides of my mouth. Then I had to wear braces throughout high school. On top of that the nurses were mean (cuz I was pretty young and not cooperative), so it was never a pleasant experience. I actually stopped going to the dentists between the ages of 19 (braces off) and 32 (last year). Never once did I go, except to get my 4 impacted wisdom teeth out. I just got the permanent retainer off my lower teeth end of last year and it feels great. No cavities in all that time or anything.
dentist make me feel eeeerrrr. . i need to have checkup twice a month cause of my braces im praying that hopefully sooner my braces gonna take it off. . *sigh*
I used to have those once a month when I was a kid, I didn't mind the dental orthodontist too much. She always had a ton of free candy in the waiting room. heh
I don't mind going to the dentist at all unless I forget to bring my sunglasses. That bright light just burns the heck out of my eyes!
I am not afraid of my dentist. Infact i love my dentist Infact i wannabe with her all the time. Coz shez a beautiful babe
I actually did the same thing - 18-32. When I was 18, the dentist actually cracked my tooth in half and then put his leg up on the dentist chair to yank the remainder out. That was it for me. 14 years and I went in and no cavities and no root canal necessary - which the dentists had been telling me my whole life was going to be absolutely necessary. I don't exactly have a colgate smile though - so I wouldn't recommend it.
I'm using self hypnosis to help me forget the pain but it doesn't help much One of these days I'll go to the dentist p.l.u.r.
i'm terrified of them. its like they speak in code with all those numbers (well, they do) which is what scares me more. i have to get 3 teeth pulled on thursday which i'm dreading. the good part is they're going to give me anasthetic so i'll be asleep. my dentist said he doesn't want to risk losing his fingers. =]
