whoo hoo! new Google sandbox filter (similar to the old -asdf trick)

accurate or not the 'sandbox' search for me is pulling a lot more relevent results that the current Google search is. Makes you wonder........

 

OK, it does something. But what ??
One of my sites definitely isn't sandboxed - sits at #2 for it's main keyword. With this tool it's #1.
It's obviously bypassing some filter - but what filter ??
If we knew that then the tool would be useful, without knowing it's just another pointless exercise.

 

they are too busy combating link building ... baby with the bath water. at the end of the day ... it really should be more about on-page than off page factors.

 

I really doubt that this search technique reveals anything about future Google rankings, heck if you input different search terms you should expect different results, after all you are searching for something different.

Is it at all accurate? Doing a normal search in Google I rank # 11 in Google, using this sites "without sandbox" search I am informed that when I come out of the sandbox I will then rank#23 ?? That just does not seem like a likely outcome to me.

 

It's possible I suppose. I'm not vouching for the tool but maybe there are sites that have filters on them that will experience larger jumps, pushing your site down in the SERPS?

 

or maybe that search is just like all the other "tools" that have been put up before but never quite seemed to pan out?? Wishful thinking is a powerful motivation.

 

Using this tool I can see that not one domain that I own (well the new ones anyway) or that I am following has fully come out of the sandbox. Some are well over a year old. Some are not ranking for anything at all. Some have few backlinks some have lots. Some have very many internal pages, some are sub directories of old sites.

Even if the tool isn't 100% correct the fact is that new sites just don't work for anything competitive. So it seems.

Can anyone show a site that has fully either avoided the sandbox or has actually come out of it? I think the sandbox is way deeper than anyone imagines.

I don't think the sandbox is about any one thing I think it is about very many.

If you don't add links you don't rank - if you do add links you get sandboxed - if you optimise you get sandboxed if you don't you don't rank.

It's catch 22 all the way down the line as far as I can see - with no way out.

I hate to be a doomsayer but this is how it's looking at the moment.

i came out of it ... superbowl sunday. since july '04 ... was in the boonies .... then poof that 1 day - #1

 

guys this tool just disables all filters, it is nothing magical i just forwards you to a search on google. It is accurate, you dont enter your URL so the tool has no idea what site is yours. Who knows what filters google has running though.

ok, great. so let me ask ... what different types of filters could there be?

 

There could be a million different types, only Google knows.

 

Maybe this is the result, if and when your competitors get out of the sandbox.

 

What we don't know if in fact when a site comes out of the sandbox that it will have the position that this tool indicates.

I really doubt the Google is so dumb that you can add a few terms to your search and they will reveal your future rankings.

 

earlier this year you could add -adsf a bunch of times, i forget how many, and you could see your site out of sandbox ... i'll testify that i saw my sites pull out on superbowl sunday just like i was doing the filter hack.

i'm talking not in first 100 pages ... but i was #1 for the allin's and the -adsf ... sure enough, the results cam, as did many others.

which is why i found this interesting.

but whether or not the filters being surpressed will get lifted from you is another story. to say it means nothing is foolish.

of course it means something, we may not know what it means yet ... but it doesn't mean it means nothing.

 

If we do not know what it means then it cannot mean anything to us can it?

Fact the only thing this "tool" does is to modify the search terms and conduct a google search with the modified terms.

Fact the modification results in changes in the search results, which is the standard behavior for any search.

Fact the changes in the search results which are supposed to show how you will rank when you come out of the sandbox also return results for sites that are not in the sandbox.

Conclusions?

 

I don't know mel. You might want to be a little more agressive with your link-building.

I am pretty convinced about this filter because at least for the field that I am competitive in, it appears to yield more current results.

And I am hoping the filter is correct as well because it puts me into # 1-2 spot instead of "not found" for my targeted keyword. For me, everything is done. I have PR. I have no broken links, all outside links have been checked and are relavent, not link-farms, very high rankings in msn, yahoo, etc., and high pos. in allin for google. It's only a matter of time now! But how long.

 

Oh I forgot to add that G visits my site at least once per day. For those who don't believe in a sandbox, explain this?

 

I've been monitoring with this tool for about 3-4 weeks now trying to draw a few conclusions.

This has been my observation: First couple of pages.


The sites that are displayed in the unfiltered results that do not sow up in a standard search do not rank in the top 1000.
The sites that appear in both generally rank 1-30 in both sets.
I'm not seeing any 200's 400's positions. They're either pretty good or non existent.

Can anybody verify seeing the same results?


My plan if time permits me is to create a database of the 2 sets of results and compare and contrast based on position, allinanchor, anintitle, #backlinks, pr etc.

 

You're kidding right? My current ranking for the term I used in the "tool" is #11 on Google and other terms rank #4 and most of them are in the top 5 in MSN and Yahoo and you suggest I should be more agressive in linking? What are you trying to do, get me penalized?
