I want to use namecheap because they have free whois gaurd and ssl certificate, btw what is the ssl certificate for, what is the use? I'm wondering if I were to buy a domain from godaddy with their promo at 1.99 can I guy their whois gaurd from namecheap and apply it to the domain I applied at with godaddy?
    thanks in advance

As far as I know you cannot use WHOIS protection from namecheap and protect a domain from godaddy.

Who.is guard or privacy can only be bought from the company that you register your domain with. Godaddy charges $8.99/yr for domain guard. Also, a $1.99 domain is most likely for a .info

    Good Luck.

Namecheap allows you to use the free positive ssl on any domain you want, even if its not registered with namecheap. Though the whois subscription has to be used with namecheap domains only.

thanks everyone Looks like I'll be registering using namecheap even though godaddy is cheaper since it has free whois gaurd and ssl
@biggun= the domain was 1.99 if you renting your hosting from godaddy which I was planning to do, however if I want the whois and I get it from godaddy it'd be more expensive or about the same price as name cheap so I'll probably we using namecheap

Btw on a side note, I was going to rent the hosting from godaddy deluxe plan, however I'm curious would anyone recomend another reputable and popular company which has good hosting and good tools to help newbies build a website? like provide premade templates and forums and blogs with tools to help create a site? Thanks, I was looking at godaddy and it looked quite good after 30 percent off and also free facebook, microsoft, and google vouchers but I'm trying to find another provideing more tools that would be easier to create/run a site.
    thanks again
