What a cowardly response. I'll take that as you have nothing and that you have surrendered the topic.

You confuse cowardly for honest. There's your problem.

It is not just any word Bushranger.

The word is more offensive than you portray - lives were lost in its use and represents pure evil, KKK and should be forgotten.

Corwin as usual uses a Howitzer when a simple reprimand would be sufficient.

Okay, I will man up and apologize here if anyone was truly offended, but seriously, it's a word and holds only the power you give it.

I'm across the ditch from you boys and while Aussie has race problems that we Kiwis don't understand I'd be hugely surprised if people are using the "N Word".

Over here our "black" people are all real Africans and we just don't get the whole put down thing. Behave like trash and you get treated like trash, don't and you won't - but your skin won't be a factor. After all, our latest "man of the moment" is Eliota Sapolu - gorgeous, intelligent and sticking it to the IRB!

Didn't see it on the list, but I'm going with Other - Paul.

Don't really like any of the other Republican candidates, but Romney is the least dislikable. Bachmann is crazy and Perry to me is the antichrist of politics. I live in Texas where he's governor and I have to say he's absolutely horrific and it's a terrifying thought of him attaining the presidency. He's crooked as they come and utilizes a lot of special interest and corporate payouts and pork barrel policies. Some of the policies he passes shouldn't even have been passed without the approval of the state congress but he found loopholes. Add to that the fact that he's preaching pushing a rightist agenda by teaching Creationism in Biology instead of evolution like we're living in the 1950's and also attempting to change the Constitution to fit his own needs, ends, and agendas. A very terrifying prospect indeed. Plus at the very least, he's W all over again and people don't want that at all.

sunfyre, Perry never endorsed teaching creationism in biology. NEVER. He also is not "attempting to change the Constitution". Those are lies that taint the credibility of everything you wrote.

Republican candidate Rick Perry believes creationism should be taught in schools. That breaches both science and constitution

Well if theories are cool, let's add them all. How about the 911 inside job one, or the moon landing hoax one. Hell, I have about 1,000 of those to add if he is open minded enough. I am willing to sit down with him and throw in some alien and reptilian bullshit as well. What would be the difference credibility wise?

When you can point to the Guardian or Yahoo making up the story your theories might give have some credence too. Plus of course when you hear Perry say stupid stuff out of his own mouth then possibly that might also ring true?

Back Perry at your peril, he's a fuckin looney bin fruit-loop imo.

Ron Paul seems to be the best bet for real change on the Republican side, again imo, but he also seems to be a bit of a doddering old fool too and might not have the ticker to do what he's promising. Looks to me like Obama IS the only choice for you guys, and, I can't say I'd be too happy with that.

So was that a plug for Paul, or were you saying we need to stick with the corporate stooge Obama because Paul might be too old? Romney, Cain, Paul, Gingrich or even Perry could beat Obama right now, and any of the above would be a better choice.

Actually, there is absolutely nothing in that article that states that Perry believes Creationism should be taught in schools.

I cannot find a direct quote from Perry that states Perry wants Creationism taught in schools.

Also, Perry has taken no official action as Governor of Texas to teach Creationism in schools.

Don't confuse politicking with policy. Texas has a huge fundamentalist Christian population that must be pandered to. It's simply politics. It's like Obama pretending that he wanted to end the war in Iraq his first year in office. Or Obama wanting to close Gitmo in his first 100 days. I didn't believe any of that crap either.

Personally, I'm more concerned with what a politician DOES than what they SAY. Only suckers think otherwise.

Here's a direct quote from the above article that you cited:
"While the Texas State Board of Education did rather famously mandate in 2009 that its science textbooks include information on "alternatives" to evolution, no textbooks containing those alternatives have actually been approved"

    That's pretty fucking pathetic.

I see a bad mother coldly using her son as a tool and a pawn??!?!?!

And Perry calls her out on it!

The difference is that over half the population rejects evolution, so does most of the population lack credibility? Anybody can ridicule any view, in fact, based on clever rhetoric. I've heard evolution called a fairy tale, for example, based on it asserting that Mother Nature kissed a frog, and 300 million years later, it turned into a prince. Deal with all views based on the merits, and not by derision. The world is more complicated than the "my view is a fact," or "your view is nonsense" binary, self-serving approach to issues.

As a native and resident of Texas I've seen more bad policies than I want to count coming from Perry that he has passed into legislation with his signings. Some weren't even passed correctly, such as calling sessions late at night so that he could get his pork policies passed. This is the last person I want to see in office ever. We're just going to agree to disagree since I can't stand him and you obviously, by taking up for him, are going to vote for him. You can post whatever you want, but I'm respectfully not going any further down this road with you.

I'm not going to "agree to disagree", instead let's agree that you are wrong.

Perry never endorsed teaching creationism in biology. NEVER. He also is not "attempting to change the Constitution"

How very classy of you to claim being right and making it known by calling someone else wrong. Anyway, when you more than obviously love someone, it's hard not to be whole heartedly on their side. I tell you what, you can stick with Perry to the end and I'll stick with Paul, or just about anyone else running. The day Perry loses will be the day that I openly celebrate and rejoice. And it'll be a day where we can move forward.
