I think the USA will eventually win it but not in the next 3 world cups. They need to get stronger in depth of players. I see they have a young player called Freddy Adu who could be a great player for the USA, am I right?

Freddie was born in Ghana but moved to Washington, DC area at age 8. He now plays for S.L. Benfica.

So he can play for either Ghana or USA?
Has he played in the Under-21's for the USA yet?

I believe he was captain of the BU20s and from what I have seen of him, he's pretty much an American kid and should have no trouble at some point representing the US.

What a game on Sunday! Final score Brazil 4 US 2. It was encouraging for the US in the way they played but an own goal, a non-call for a US penalty kick, a phantom call on a free kick, and a Brazil penalty kick was the difference.

One thing I was quite pleased with was no diving from the US boys and a Brazilian got called for diving (he jumped up in his dive, not good for style points). I was also impressed with Tim Howard jamming his finger into the cross bar making it deflect several inches. He had his finger pushed back into joint and continued playing.

    Here's a nice highlight video.

No disgrace in losing 4-2 to Brazil. Well done.

UK should and UK will win the next FIFA world cup. US will have to prove itself on the field against all the Big Daddies.

Reread the last couple posts. The US battled Brazil (they have a pretty good team, right?) very evenly, watch the highlights from the link about three posts before yours.

I would never buy that argument. Do you think a Brazilian squad saw losing as an option? I've been in company picnic games where people play to the point of injury and I see my kid's soccer team and coach get worked up. They even get more worked up if they as an upper level club (Silver League) team are playing a recreational team (AYSO Plus).

It was a good match, Ronaldinho had to work for around 80 minutes and only once or twice did he mix in his circus moves.

The difference with your kids games and picnic games is they can go out and headbutt every mofo if they want they are not employed by a team day in day out, being paid xxx, xxx's a week then playing for their country every so often.
If you think these players aren't told to take it easier in friendlies, that is if some are even risked in friendlies then your very wrong.
Playing Brazil in a friendly is very different than in a real match.

You didn't watch this match, did you? Kaka, Ronaldinho, and other top 20 in the world players played all or most of the 90+ minutes. There was no signs of "taking it easy". Do you think Brazil would have tolerated a lose to the land wear the game is called soccer?

In other matches, Australia had a good showing against Argentina in a friendly, losing 1-0 with the superstar Messi playing the full 90 minutes. Australia are so predictable, they love the spotlight and only turn up for the big games :(

No i believe you they tried hard, im sure America gave them a good match, a friendly can still not be compared to a real game though.

That's your opinion, I guess we have to agree to disagree. I'll let you know if I ever see a game where a side is "taking it easy".

Ok. Was gonna start shouting at you cause I didn´t read the post properly...
    Don´t know, don´t care.
Next world cup belongs with us, shoud have been this one but not always the best team wins.
    And that´s of course germany.
The US may win the world cup one day but I think England will be first, because itn won´t take them a couple of centuries to get a good team whereas the US...
