I am thinking about signing up to use an affiliate marketer like CJ, and was wondering if anyone else is doing this to advertise their online retail site?

If you are please tell me who you use and what your success has been.

    Thanks

CJ is way too expensive (I think it is like $4,000 or so to start)! Do loads of research first before committing to a affiliate network program. I did, and decided on ShareASale after much research.

I had an in-house program for about 2 years and made the switch after changing our website from osCommerce to 3dCart, which doesn't support affiliate tracking.

ShareASale has been great so far. No problems with any of the affiliates. The sales aren't monumental, but they are better than what was generated through our in-house program! In fact, in our first month of using ShareASale, I believe the sales have exceeded the total generated from our in-house program.

You can submit a datafeed of your products that affiliates can use to promote your site. Many of the affiliates that have joined our program are comparison shopping sites and coupon sites, so the traffic is truly targeted.

As I said, do thorough research! Check out affiliate forums and the like and make an informed decision before jumping into something you might regret later.
