who thinks magazines are going to fade away

i have stopped buying them, no need with the info available on the net

 

i don't think so, magazines is a part of marketing, and there are many good and valuable info. yes on the net are a lot of info, but very bad thing is that on the net also are more crap than good info :/ just my opinion

They;ll start doing what newspapers have doner and making most of the info in a magazine available on the intenet and eventually scrapping the magazine. Everything is being geared up towards the internet, a few local papers near me have stopped printing as all the news is on the internet and their losing money.

 

I don't think they're going away anytime soon, same thing with books. It's nice to hold something in your hand.

 

I think it has impacted the magazine industry but I don't think print publication will ever go away.

I know that I like to get my news and info from all mediums. So the Internet has allowed me another avenue and not necessarily something that is "either or" but rather "both".

 

Seconded , just like the newspaper. It always feels good to wake up with a cup of coffee in one hand and a fresh set of newspaper in the other.

Besides that. Magazines are going to stay for a loong time.
I'd read more magazines if they'd have good information in them, but a lot of them aren't all that interesting to me.

Nonetheless, it's great to sit outside in the sun with a magazine.
Computers and the internet are great, but I don't want to be sitting in front of it all the time.

I'm just saying Books aren't going to dissappear just because Ebooks exist.
Lots of people prefer having books and magazines instead of Ebooks, Ezines and the Internet.

You do have to admit that you can save a whole bunch of trees and space if every book was an Ebook and every magazine was an Ezine.

I've got about a thousand Ebooks at the moment if not more. If all of those are real books, my house would be crammed

Anyway, magazines are a keeper, no doubt.

What? No way... eBooks and electronic media have been around for a long time and people still buy printed books and publications.

 

Not as long as there are bathrooms!

 

they will never fade away - but they are becoming less and less relevant. Think about all the kids that buy sports mags just to cut out images of their fav athletes

 

Magazines still provide "better" info than free internet content. For good content you still have to pay on the internet also.
Magazines and Newspapers are still my favourite for relaxation ....

 

magazines have evolved

now they feature longer more well thought out articles and features that have more lasting power since they can't compete with the up to the minute internet

there is a place for both since anything on the web is likely to get erased at some point

 

I'm nerd to the core but still love to pick up a mag once in a while.

 

Yeah...newspapers are slowly dying...in print form anyway, but magazines will be around for a long time still to come, I think. Books...even longer than that.

Hehe Someone needs to invent a computer for the toilet!!! Millions, I tell ya.

 

they will never go away totally. Too many people like reading them. People are born everyday that still don't like technology. I deal with teenagers and I see them from time to time that hate technology. Besides the truth is paper will never completly go away, its tangible, and digital is not. People like things they can touch. Just my two cents.

I don't think they will go away. They will just evolve and will have better presentation.

 

As a freelance writer and editor of an e-zine for writers, I read a lot of news, and here lately I've read where the print industry for magazines and newspapers have taken a hit. In fact, some print magazines have shut down and decided to turn to the Internet. It's hard to say what the future holds for this industry, but if enough people still subscribe, I believe they'll stick around for the long haul. It's like one person here said, "It's nice to have something to hold in your hand."

I'm currently subscribed to the Writer's Digest magazine, and as long as it remains in print, I will continue my subscription. However, if they offer me an online subscription at a lower price, then I'd probably switch over to the electronic version. Just my two cents.

 

I'm still buying magazines. I don't think it will fade soon.
