The shorthand is CH and other groups query domain availability searches and
register those not taken on the spot. They hold on to such names for roughly
    120 hours.

If those names get the desired results, they keep them. If they don't, they let
    them go.

This issue is still being tackled by the powers-that-be. In the meantime, you'll
have to arm yourself with knowledge how these things go.

Don't query the domain name on your browser. Don't contact the registrant as
    well re: the name.

Check within 120-hours (5 days) from the creation date of the domain name.
With luck, they'll let it go.

Mark that day on your calendar. And be ready to register it on the spot with
    no distractions whatsoever.

Oh, and google for "domain tasting" in your spare time.

ok. thank you sir. i am very angry about this company. I am suprised no one is doing anything about them. This is unethical business and they should be shut down and charged. maybe i start a site to campaign that.

I had heard a number of stories similar to yours - my sympathies and I'll keep my fingers crossed you'll get it after the 5 days.

When I am shopping a new domain, I never put the full domain in the search box. There are several places that allow this, I use http://www.domaintools.com/ because you can enter a portion of the name and it will search for you and give you anything ever registered (active or not) with the fragment. I try to search for enough of the name to not get 5 million results, but not so much that someone could easily figure out what I was thinking.

I'm not sure if it searches for other than .com, .info., .org and the other non-country specific names; so if you are looking for a country specific there might be a better tool to use.

There are actually pros and cons for this. But this issue is being tackled by the
    powers-that-be even as we post.

It remains to be seen what's going to happen in the future.
