Who still believes in reciprical linking for Google purposes?

Just curious as to how many of you still believe in reciprical link building, regarding Google SERPS?

Or at least, do you still think it's worth the effort to do link exchanges, especially if you can outsource this task?

    Thanks!

If you don't have any backlink, how will find you the visitors (and search engines, also)?

What's wrong with reciprocal linking when it makes sense? :)

nothing's wrong with it, but i think the question was whether or not it had a positive affect on SERPs with respect to Google. my personal opinion is that it's pretty much useless in terms of Google SERPs. i'd be interested to see if anyone reports having success w/Google rankings using reciprocal links.

I believe it does when it makes sense, when the links are related to the subject matter and so on.

I'd rather try to exchange links for the purpose of getting more direct visitors, i.e. by exchanging with big related websites.

Links only make sense if they are REAL quailty links that are related to your site. I still maintain a link page but am very selective on who I link with.

Unfortunately the word link exchange has gotten such a spammy ring to it, in reality link exchange is not bad.

I still do link exchanges and yes, they still work. On that note, I wouldn't stick to just one method for attaining inbound links. They are numerous ways to get links and you should be using all of them.

true, but I believe that most of them are some sort of authority sites that have good natural links as well to keep them looking legit.

sorry blog master i accidently posted to the wrong thread intially

I have a no new sites or affilate sites which rank well in google, that have a high percentage of reciprical links

But I do still have several non affiliate old sites that rank well in google with mostly reciprical links, for mostly not that competitve terms, like terms that get less 60,000 searches a month.

Actually pretty much all links make sense, to me, depending on what you use them for.

I still use recips, but I don't have a links page and I only link to related pages. What I do is write a quick article or product review and include the link in there. I have no idea if this is helping me or not, but it also helps give me ideas for new content as I pick up links.

It seems to have been devalued after the last algo update, unless the two sites are very relevant. Also, it should not form the majority of backlinks. Keep that in mind and they can prove useful

Well yahoo and msn give me quality traffic if I have a shit load of "junk" links, so I don't plan on stopping any time soon,

Did you ever notice on seo forums everyone trys to quantify whatever they do with words like "quality" , my links are "quality" etc
