Who says signature links are worthless..!!

I seen some Sr members posting a few weeks or moths maybe, I don't really remember, that signature links are worthless. Well I've never agreed with that, and I think I can prove it.

We've put together a blog to help the town I live in, it's a non profit deal and we already had to buy a logo and get a style setup, so we have nothing for back links and web promotion. So I added their blog in my sig on dp as well as 3 other smaller vb help sites.. the post count on those sites would be about 3k post and my 5k post here.
I set the anchor as the blog name as well as for "Topeka Kansas" on all 4 sites.
I used shoemoney's serp tool to track it.
Within 3 weeks I started seeing us in google for the town name on the 9th page, few more days past and we on the 6th page, few more days I see we are the 26th spot for the town name, and the last week I have seen up as high as #5 for that term.
I'm just now starting to submit to link directories and the guys and gals that are posting the blogs are just now getting some good post out.. We started with zero post, and it took us a week to get some content up.

Anyways... I just wanted to say, don't forget sig links, they aren't completely worthless

it depends which forums you are in
if your in a web master community, a link to a site for webmasters will obviously get more hits than a link to porn

 

the link I'm using is for the town I live in.. the links are all from vb help sites, or dp,, a webmaster forum..


the niche isn't related in the least..

 

theyre definitely not worthless, especially DP ones. they wont rank sites in competitive areas on their own, but they will help.

 

They aren't worthless.. They are LINKS...and dp signature links does get picked up by google. Use the anchor text wisely..and it will help you with ur ranking on a small niche.

 

Obviously signature links are not worthless. They can be used to rank well in non competiting keywords but for popular keywords just having signature links will not get your site to even the top 10 pages of search engines.

If you look at Google webmaster tools then you will see DP forums links in there

 

I agree with what you say. Sig links do help somewhat.

For example just for an experiment I started 2 new blogs and added some posts on both the blogs.

Then I added one of the blogs url in my signature. I waited for about 24 hours and then checked both the blogs and I see the blog that I added in my sig was not only showing in google search results but also all the posts that I made where cached. And the other one was just the same as it was on day 1.

Adding to it the links from sigs are also counted as backlinks by google. Which clearly shows forum sigs do have some value.

 

No they aren't! Google picks them up and they do help!!!

they can help getting indexed fast.

 

I think that such a bug amount of links doesn't worth anything. If there were fewer links from each page it was worth something.

 

They are not worthless but they are less affected your ranking in comparison with other back link types.

 

They are definitely helpful in increasing the number of backlinks and sometimes more traffic, especially the one with huge popularity like dp

 

yes u are right as getting back links helps u to increase yr traffic.
