Who provides really cheap web hosting?

With a fairly large bandwidth and web space. I know the common ones like Bluehost, Lunarpages. Are there any others cheaper?

(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but there does not seem to be anything dedicated to web hosting)

I think netfirms is okay if you just want to host big files..Otherwise for forums etc it sucks!

    Yes qwest.

When you purchase DreamHost's plan for 2 years up front, it'll cost you $3.90 per month (for the first 2 yrs)..later on may be around $7 a month (or whatever will be the price at that time)

    Further info.

Servage is good. But only problem is those people who gives high bandwidth and space on low price are most of the time unrealiable and dont have cpanel :(

well. I can also share my my personal experience w/ DreamHost. I've had hosting account with them for about 4 months now. There was downtime only once for about 5 minutes. My support tickets have been answered within 12 hours (more so perhaps of the timezone difference). They don't offer the traditional cPanel but I never felt the need for it with their custom one which lets me do everything there is to it. Their plan gives so much of space and bandwidth (which increases every week at that) that I don't need to think about it. I host about 6 domains with them and there's no limit on that number. The speed of the sites also have been very good spare one at tutorialsforall.com but then that's how non-optimized Pligg sites are. And then they also provide shell access.

I set up PHProxy script and after few days was told gently to remove it. I did so that was the end of that matter.

You say they oversell? So be it. No need to go in circles about that as long as you aren't affected by it. :) I am yet to find one reputed hosting company that offers as much as DreamHost does at less than $3.90 a month. If there's one please show me and I'll try it after two years.

You know, if they oversell they really aren't offering as much as they "do".

dreamhost beats all the hosting provider but they are giving the worst hosting quality . i was their customer . if you are using mysql , you can be sure that you will get big problems with your web site and there is one more think about dreamhost . downtimes !!! it's possible you to get long down time . i have lived 2 weeks down time with their server

i think the quality of hosting is more important then hosting price

trichnosis: I googled 'dreamhost downtime' and am surprised to see that many complained about it. I guess DH has learnt its lessons through that and improved their services. Because I haven't faced any since I purchased hosting from them. If you get a chance to, try it out today. I am not going to gain anything if you do. So it's up to you :)

Again, no probs whatsoever w/ MySQL DBs here.
