I'd like to one day but I don't think I can earn as much as I do online, so I've got a couple of offline ventures going; some stock trading, some real estate investments, and a small business.

With the pennies that I earn on adsense, I don't think I'll ever leave my regular job :D

I'd have to be making $8000-$10000 a month to quit my day job (california is expensive)..even then, I still wouldn't quit if it was just all adsense money. Too unstable if you ask me.

gazu, are you from CapeTown ? It's in Africa if I am not mistaken...so how much it will be for average living ?

P.S. I assume it will be much more than rural areas.

Adsense would just be a tidbit of the earnings. I'd rely mostly on freelance/consulting work. I can make an entire month's paycheck in a week while freelancing, the only problem is that it's hard to find clients, especially steady ones.

Well it is sorta hard to leave my day job. My day job is being a stay at home dad to my 3 year old. I would be pretty happy with around 3000 a month but that is a long way to come.

You would be silly to stop working. What about health benefits?! I mean, you could put a majority of it to taxes and what not so you don't have to worry about that sort of thing.

You don't have to work for a company to get health benefits, there are a few affordable health insurance companies out there.

No day job for me, i like the danger feeling of no guaranteed payment from an employer, it makes you panick and work hard.

You dont get paid you dont eat. :) try it, its scary but has its advantages.

I dont recommend it if you have kids to care for though, or a big mortgage or something hanging over you.

Another advantage is you have more time to work on your projects, commuting takes about 5 secs and you can take a break when you want. :)

Don't worry too much. Just keep working on it. I too rarely break .02 right now but I know I can do a lot better.

Silly to stop working? Ha! That's insane to me. The ENTIRE reason I started doing IM is so I could stop working for someone else. That's the POINT of this to me. :) And as I've mentioned earlier, I've now been working for myself for about 3 years, so it's working out wonderfully :)

4-5 times my day job, which earns me around $4k per month... which means probably never.

i plan to leave my day job if i can make atleast 80% of my current salary. i only earn $30,000 a year so you do the math. i have no kids, no car payment, no wife, and no REAL obligations. my only real obligation is rent and feeding myself. i'm 24 years old and stuck in an office job. i think now is a better time than ever. i don't plan on using adsense for the my main income. i plan to have the bulk of my income coming in from private banner ad sales. kind of a "create your own destiny" vibe. rather than a "quick my day job just so i can rely on an ad program that could ban me at anytime" vibe.

My "day-job" has too good of a benefit package to leave. I will continue working part-time for UPS as long as I can, plus it's manual labor and keeps me in shape.

Full dental, vision, preventative care, ER visits, ambulance, retirement, and more ... across America and any country in which UPS ships to.
