Recently i signed up for linkmarket.net and payed however much it was per year. It's shit so if your thining about it dont bother. Everyone on their is trying to con everyone else - nofollow/non-indexed/non-linked link pages...just dont bother!!

Anyway not what i was supposed to talking about jsut got on a rant. Do you think its worth using directory submit services such as:

    http://www.submithelper.com/User/User_Service.aspx

I would like to know - what sort effect it might have on my rankings and how much traffic i might expect to get from all of these directories? as i am considering this but dont want to get ripped of like i reckon i ded with link market.

THanks for all comments in advance
    Jamie

I have used alfredo from this forum to submit by hand to 100 directories for $14 in the past and was very happy.

Not had any experience with automated programs though and for $14 don't really see any need to use anything else.

I have used alfredos service too. I recommend him.

    About the effect
    1. It definetly won't hurt.
    2. Depends on the directory, some may not even be indexed, As long as the page gets indexed, it adds to the link popularity.
    3. If you already have a stablished site with say PR6, I don't think a few PR0 links help a lot.

I used to hire other people for directory submission, now I do it myself and offer service to other people as well.

Submit Helper is a software/service specially designed for directory submission. By using the software, you should be able to do the submission very quickly if you wish to. There is a list of free, non reciprocal directories built in. That list is updated daily.

The difficulty of doing it yourself is that you have to maintain the list of free, non reciprocal directories yourself. By a few 10s $, you might save you some valuable time by hiring other people to do it for you!

Yes, submithelper.com is a good one. I just used their service--Submit to all free, non-reciprocal directories. three weeks ago. And I'm very satisfied with their service. They keep you informed all the way and offer reports of what categories in what directories they submited to etc.
Now,my site's PR and Alexa have exactly been improved.
    Highly recommend it.

I am the one doing Directory submission (& other SEO stuffs) for the company, everything by hand nothing automated. Interested? U can contact me :)

Hmm what u said is right as a Directory with PR0 won't play a big role on ur page rank but is it not counted as a backlink?
U know I submit to some new directories with PR0 their PR will probably increase later on, many are free when they're new and becomes paid as soon as they've got a good PR. So I don't want to miss the chance to be included in these directories just because they got PR0... I think in the long run :)

Linkateer seems to submit a lot of listings to AllDotNet, although its only paid submissions, I'm sure they submit to free directories also.

I've used Westhaven and someone else from here (can't remember the name though). They were both good. Westhaven did 100 submissions. The other people did 100, 200, or 300.

I am paying $10 for submission to 200 directories, if I get 4 links then I consider its worth it for the price of 2 beers.

I have never tried auto submit services to web directories.

I use to submit my site to alot of web directories, but don't bother so much now.

Most of the directories I don't get any traffic from a very few, but there is a few where I get a continuous small flow of traffic each month, which is nice.

Check out www.dateculture.com which got 300 directory submissions, a link from www.eslgo.com (PR 6) and a couple links from www.seo-search-engine-ranking.com (PR 4) and one from www.jtrotta.com/Relationships (PR 5). It has over 100 backlinks if yo check in Yahoo and Google has indexed everypage. Plus Google is sending me traffic. This site is maybe 2 months old.

When I submit to directories, I never expect to get any traffice. It is the links that counts

I don't like the idea of auto submit.. but semi-automatic is fine... similar as roboform and Google form filler.
