I found this spam e-mail that linked me to:
    www. googlesubmission. info

I thought I'd share because it was hilarious.

" 200 million people a day perform a search on Google. Do you want to miss out?"
    Obvious...

"The GOOGLE SUBMISSION service costs $199"
    Who PAYS that much??

    " No cost per click"
Obviously (when people search for your site and click on it)

And kids, you can do it for free at:
    http://www.google.com/addurl/

Googlebot is capable of locating links itself! Submissions throught the google url is also not necessary.

BTW I agree some nuts may pay US$ :D:D

Just some retard ripping people off. Google may take them down as they DON"T state "we are not affiliated with google....." which is necessary when offering these type of services. Report it using webmaster tools and they will take it down.

And submitting using the addurl doesn't speed up the process either. Backlinks are the only thing that does it.

I wouldn't exactly call them nuts. Lack of quality info makes you pay! Thats why we should be grateful for forums like this. Ignorance is expensive, not nutsy :D

True.. but even I knew how to submit to google at 15 lol (I'm not poking fun)

Anyways, wouldn't they google up "submit to google" and voila the google addurl page is there, or maybe they don't know what google is

But there's no need to constantly submitting your site to the SEs.. What a shame, they should spend that money on SEO

They are perfectly within there rights to charge $200 to submit to google. they aren't breaking the law. Its like charging someone $2000 for a drink of water, it crazy but not illegal.

Well in a way it is as I already mentioned. They are infringing on Googles TOS. You are supposed to state that your not affiliated with Google. Sites have gotten shut down for less than that. I can't guarantee they will take it down but I am pretty sure they would atleast send a warning.

I'm pretty sure they do state that on their site, I checked them out after they spammed me as well (I had no intention of buying I was just curious).

But the trademark infringement should be sufficient to get the domain shut down.

I think it is illegal. I also got this spam. They mislead naive webmasters who will believe that the letter is from Google
