So I'm looking at getting a new computer and am overwhelmed by the amounts of information. I plan on playing Age of Conan, and therefore need something that can handle having 500 people running around on the screen at any time. How much of an effect with the processor play in this? I figure having a lot of good ram and a good video card is key, but what about all this SLi? PCI-e x16, Duo, Quad and Extreme Cores? Any info?

The quad cores are good. Forget about SLI/Crossfire, better to spend your money on 1 great video card than 2 (or 4) good ones (unless you have heaps of cash, then get 4 great ones :D). Depends on your budget really.

Of course, it always depends on your budget.
I think that with a core 2 duo, some good ammount of RAM and a good video card you should have more than enough to play the game.
Of course, the keyboard and mouse are helpful too xD

    >go for extreme if u r budget permits or core 2 duo as the present day applications are optimized to run on these processors however in the long run quad is th better option. >again if u hav the budget i suggest ddr3 but it's way too costly. or any high rated ddr2 will also do. if using windows xp then stick to only 2gb to 2.7gb of ram anything above it u r asking for trouble, if vista then no such issues. > sli/crossfire setup has negligible performance increase over the high end video cards so not recommended unless u want to burn a whole in u r pocket, xfx/asus/evga 8800gtx ultra is more than sufficient & pci-ex16 is the standard port available since long. > go for a really good psu like coolemaster. >creative x-fi platinum soudcard or x-fi gamer. >coolermaster cosmos computer cases are the best it has a esata port & the build quality is really good
