This is absurd. Hensley & Company is the beer distributor business established by the father of Cindy McCain. When McCain and Cindy Helmsly married and McCain, having spent several years on Capitol Hill as a liason on behalf of the Navy, decided to run for political office, his father-in-law gave his daughter several hundred thousand dollars and gave McCain a position so he could hob nob and campaign in Phoenix. McCain was able to use the money presented to his wife to loan funds to his campaign. This is not a "private sector" position on which to promote the qualities of John McCain. I like McCain. I admire that over a long period he has not been tied to a political theory, but has decided issues on what he feels is best for the nation. I admire that after succumbing to the dirtyness of big business supporting his candidacy and he in return aiding the Lincoln Bank that went into bankruptcy and became a major scandal in 1989....he years later addressed campaign financing as a dirty element of American financing and tried to restrict the impact of big money on politicians. I admire that he stood up to Bush's 2nd and subsequent rounds of tax cuts in the face of monumental deficits. I don't agree with all his choices by any means, especially his stance on the war. I don't believe he has a gut or strong background in finance...but he has already admitted that; but I admire his independance and willingness to act in the face of harmful radical political theories. Regardless, this claim is absurd. His "private sector" history was a gift and portrays no qualities of leadership. I don't believe you'll see the Republican party or his campaign flaunt or advertise this aspect of his past.
3 great choices. You are the first to name GW. I am not a fan of the Bush,s but we did not have much to choose from. Reagan had grit. He fixed the economy from the train wreck that occurred in the seventies.
I think you will find that your Democrat buddies were responsible for the taxes. There is always a compromise to be made by any president that wants to push legislation through the system. My folks lived in Arkansas and I knew who the Clintons were long before most of the country knew who they were. The Clintons have never cared about anything except the Clintons and building a power base. They gave new meaning to the term "dirty politics" in Arkansas. The only way Clinton balanced the budget was by raising everyone's taxes and through dramatic cuts in military spending. He did nothing to cut the growth in government or the bad spending habits of Washington. And just when did Bill apologize for anything? I must have missed that part. BTW, Lincoln and Reagan are my favorites. I started out liking Bush, but he let the media machine run right over him. He could have avoided a lot of the wild accusations made about him if he would have addressed the issues, rather than hiding behind a rock. When he went into Iraq, I said that this was going to either be the smartest thing he ever does or the dumbest. There wasn't going to be anything in between. We will have to see what the situation looks like in 20 years. It took that long to realize that most of Reagan's controversial decisions were correct. One of the most controversial presidents in the history of the country was Lincoln. The country was more divided than it is today after the Civil War ended. He was also despised by half of the country, but most of his decisions also ultimately turned out to be correct.
What is absurd is your inability to accept reality. McCain did in fact work for Hensley after retiring from the Navy, and prior to running for office. Go rewrite history somewhere else.
I thoroughly acknowledge McCain worked for Hensley. It was not the type of work he or his campaign is going to use to extol his better qualities.
