Hey guys, I wish to remove the powered by statement from my indexscript directory. who is the owner of the indexscript? will like to remove the license links toby
toby, may i ask how you feel about indexscript? im considering using it myself for a future directory, just wondering what you think of it.
personal view? It is easy to modify if you are a coder. It is relative term when i said easy coz I may not know about smarty and things from phpld, so i find that the indexscript is easy to modify. I have SEO my sites and make changes to the buying section. *one thing is that it has pretty dumb buying link using paypal coz it doesn't show the url of the buyers, so it could be hard to see who paid and who's not. Overall, i'm pleased with indexscript. Again, my site is in my avatar. or at my location section.
Not sure what that has to do with wanting the link removed. Fair enough. But this is just mho, you should always give credit to the script creator, because without the use of that script your directory may not be doing as well. It is just a respect thing, at least show a little love to the creator of what is helping you become successful.
No, banless. the reason is that he (the owner), himself wish to sell the UnBRand site here>> http://www.indexscript.com/download.php (I just wish to contact him before I take it off totally). I know what you mean by giving respect. that's nice of you and I am doing JUST that
Thanks toby, i apppreciate you taking the time to give your views on it, im seriously considering this one. Thanks
pipe, what are you looking at from a directory? For me, indexscript is good for the fact that it allows an intermediate programmer a freedom to modify the script easily compared to phpld where one needs to know some smarty and templates etc.
I understand what you are saying now. You just want to buy the right to remove the link, is that correct? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying what you are doing is wrong, there are alot of directories that do the same thing. I just believe that when it comes the design of a website or template, the creator should always get at least one link back which points to their site.
banless, thanks for pointing out that and i agree with you on that . really hate it when someone removes the linkback to my creator when i make it freely distribute (It does happen to me before for my image upload service).. so here, i am trying to pay the owner for the right to remove it out. It will help benefits my paid members as a whole note: I could help you modify your indexscript site free (for small modification)
Well im new to running my own directories, still not announced my first yet, will do in a few days, its using phpld, i finished it today, and while i was doing my research into what directory script i wanted to use i had came accross indexscript. Unfortunately i dont have programming skills yet, but i do like the look of indexscript in general, plus the fact that its free, id be lying if i said that i understood anything else about it, i have plans for releasing more directories over time and both phpld and indexscript seem to appeal to me the most.
I agree, for myself it probably is best to try them both, and i guess its not a bad thing if i take a liking to both either.
i'm the owner of indexscript to be able to remove the 'powered by link', you'll have to pay $29.99 - check out http://www.indexscript.com/download.php check out version 2.8 - it's got paypal ipn and also it shows you exactly who has paid for what link...
But doesnt ipn mean that you can run payment thingy only on one domain , as there is only 1 ipn url allowed in paypal ? Just like esyndicate script ? Or is it something like phpld where ipn is not even needed?
ah... that's where indexscript comes to save the day. in the paypal profile page of indexscript, you can specify an ipn url - should be to pp_ipn.php provided by the indexscript package. where indexscript is concerned, this url will overwrite whatever you specified in your paypal account. cool eh?
