I have started at age 30 and thought that I was unique.
Great job, Jim. Both of my parents are in their 60s and afraid to touch a pc.

As I tell people on the Web design forums, the day you think you have nothing left to learn is the day the world leaves you behind.

And I say that regardless of age or "other (imaginary perceived) limitation."

None of the guys on here who consistently boast about rankings. Most of the best SEO guys on here don’t post any info.

Getting old, I must say:p I've got a couple of issues with SEO that, as a newcomer to the scene, would love to get these straight - any of the aforementioned 'experts', feel free to shoot me a PM some time:)

    Thanks

Just shoot me a PM, depending on what if they are flat questions I'll just answer them; didn't I do an analysis for you already?

lol the memories, my first modem was a 300 baud and it didn't even have tone dial capabilities. I had to do a rudimentary workaround by connecting the audio out line on the PC to the modem and manually generate the tones using the PC's sound chip just to dial out and connect to another PC.

The computer had 64 kilobytes of RAM, a 1.02Mhz CPU and ran a tape drive followed by an 8 inch floppy drive.

    Things have changed slightly. :D

My theory is different. I consider the best person in any category is the one who is consistent performer and keeps evolving. I will go with Dan Schulz for his excellent and most consistent contribution to DP.

Thanks - just sent you a PM...very well constructed, as you will see:rolleyes:

I remember my first computer that I actually owned, it was top of the range and could just and no more run NBL Live '96, which at the time felt about as realistic as [ enter your favourite daytime tv program]:D That was back in the day when my area first got the internet installed, and I could load a web page in just under 6 months:rolleyes:

I think I claim the trophy here. My first exposure to computers was a 1965 programming course at the University of Pittsburgh. The language we learned was called MAD (Michigan Algorithm Decoder). The computers we used were those gigantic, reel-to-reel tape drives that filled up a large room. Keyboard input was done by typing up a huge stack of punch cards and feeding them into the hopper! Does anyone go back farther than that? There was, of course, no internet then.

After a break of a couple of decades, I jumped back into computing with the early Macs. My first was a Mac with a 20MB hard drive. Yes, I said 20MB hard drive, not 20GB.

Slightly before, Hard Drives were reserved for governments and the filthy rich at that stage. My parents work had a 10MB Hard Drive and it made peoples jaw drop with it's capacity, now you couldn't even download Internet Explorer's .exe on it.

Virtually anyone who had a computer at home ran data cassette's then, hard drives were huge and cost a packet.

Edit: Saw Jims post, was that on a Univac?

To think back then if you invested in this crazy idea of a PC that would be in everyone home in the world ;)
