HostGator is a bit of an overseller, like free hosts :p

I use KnownHost, their shared hosting is great, I had a VPS with them at one time and I never saw a time that the server was inaccessible and I have their shared now, and the uptime is just as good.

My personal preference is for hostgator.com

You can get a reseller account for $24.95 per month. I'm selling hosting accounts from my reseller account and now my hosting is free every month.

The problem with Hostgator is their limited features for their least expensive plan, and still more expensive than Dreamhost.

If you are looking for a Shared, Reseller, or vps.
I would recommend Sclek Web Hosting

If you are looking for dedicated...
I would recommend 10TB or iWeb

Very true, not all web hosts have the same features, same target, niche, choose when you are decided what you need.

I like hostgator especially because I can add domains to my hosting account for free. GoDaddy support was always ok when I had them but I had problems with them.

I've been quite happy wiht MidPhase.

However, if you are a serious internet marketer I recommend indianets.com for their multiple Class C IP hosting. Very affordable, fast working and friendly staff. I signed up last week and now I have 20 blogs on different IPs for not much more than what I was paying before. Very useful.

1&1: poor control panel, but FAST support and fast servers too. No little boys, 1and1 is a big organisation.

I like both,, hostgator is lovely fast cpanel hosting. +1

vexxhost is professional.. (fast servers..) but support sucks. One day they suspended my account and ruined my whole business. I screwed everything: cancel account with them and parked my domain. Wow, what a buch of $$$ with domain parking! Unlucky gets lucky lol.. each disadvantage has its advantage!
