Who do you think is the best for bulk purchases ? I am about to buy 100 + .com`s and kind of debating, like godaddy because of the bulk registar feature but the price is kind of high, I thought I could at least buy it somewhere else cheap, I mean if I save like $ 3 per domain that is at least $ 300, chunk of change, and later just transfer it if not satisfied with the service.

Any registrar that you see below $6.25 (their actual cost for com is 6 for the registry owner and 0.25 for the icann. Large registrars pay less than 0.25) they have either :
    1. A marketing budget to waste
    2. High Renewal or Transfer Free to balance the loss of the registration
    3. Trying to promote other services like webhosting or similar again to take back the loss
    4. Poor support not allowing your domain be transferred or delay the transfer for a month or so

Most of registrars up to $7 are ok for bulk registration

I use onlinenic for .com and iplox for .org .info. because cost is my concern. No technical problem from them and propagation is as fast as 1minute after payment.

I have always used Idotz.net. They are cheap, straight to the point and give you complete real time control over your domains :)

Domnom made a very good point: the choice of registrar depends on your needs (hosting vs. parking). We actually had good experience with NS when one of our .net domains got hijacked. They made every effort, and got it back to us in 3 days. Of course, for that "peace of mind", you pay $35 instead of $8.

Some registrars allow a wider ccTLD selection. GoDaddy and eNom are winners here. Dotster and Eurodns do a good job as well, although Eurodns has many hidden change and transfer fees.

Interestingly, nobody had mentioned Register.com. They used to be very good (also had a nice IPO back when Al invented the Internet). They're still a top player in the field, and their key selling point is a universal corporate management account (i.e. essentially, they can be a one-stop shop for all ccTLDs...if you care, of course).

Given your situation, GoDaddy looks like the best choice.

No personal experience with 1and1, but I've heard they have excellent reputation as well.

What do you mean by the acutal cost for a com name is $6?

Isn't it just the normal expensis of a company? (i.e customer support and other stuff).

If they are able to make their expenses less than $6 per domain, they will be making decent money. Am i right?

I second the godaddy recommendation; their hosting is not too shabby either.

I've been using mydomain.com for a couple years now and couldn't be happier. The price is right and the control panel is comprehensive and easy to use.

Ok, so I did end up buying about 70 .com`s through 1and1.com . They have domains for 5.99 ( no coupon needed ) that includes private registration which comes handy if you buy a lot of names and want to avoid spam. So far it seems pretty decent, the control panel is decent and easy to use, the only bad thing I could say is that it took about 3 - 4 hours for the domains to be able to use. So I will keep a close eye on them and report if any bad experience would occur.

Maybe you should try 1and1.com caz they are really cheap (5.99/domain) also they dont charge extra money for private registration.

There is no best registrar, just the best registrar for you. I recommened bitenames and namecheap. Namecheap you can use promotion code: yaffaspecial
for bitenames use biteprice but right now they are giving domains for free just by signing up and emailing their support with your username.
    :)
