Why not you informed them that cheque is 1st July 2008 and it is international cheque which in mm/dd/yy form.:) You can contact Adbrite. Try to use Public sector banks.

ICICI is full of stupid people.

Once my international client (settled in India) gave me a cheque and wrote 1 lakh as 'One Hundred Thousand Rupees'. ICICI people simply ignores it and said it must read 'One lakh rupees'. They not even know what 'One Hundred Thousand Rupees' is, seriously. I talked with the manager directly and he also refused to accept it. As I was in a rush to withdraw that money, I simply visit my client and asked him to write a new cheque (ofcourse I cannot use 'CHECK' as the ICICI people won't accpet it :D) and I still cldnt forgot the way my client looked at me at that incident.

Agreed. Almost all the people manning the lower rungs of ICICI are under qualified (10th or +2) and underpaid. Then how can you expect them to understand your problem? But they will be very strict when it comes to recovery of loans (read many stories in the newspaper...)

And people, don't use their M2India service at all.

For smaller amounts less than 500 US$, there will not be a problem. But once you will start sending more than 2000 US$ through their M2India, then you will get in trouble for sure.

They made our money vanished for no reason and we have to call them up at our own cost many many times and each and every time we have to talk with different people and have to tell them the whole story again and again.

At last after a three, four weeks time they just credit the money in our account. But no reason, no apologize, nothing.

This has happend to myself many times.

Excuse me, itz AMERICAN format. Don't always think ameican format is INTERNATIONAL format.

In most of the coutries, they do follow only British format only.

ICICI Bank. AdBrite issued the checks in the US date format, as that is their home nation.

Adbrite send their checks in U.S. formate. but ICICI see it in Indian format even they knw that check belongs to U.S.

here no fault of Adbrite. cause he is still paying in same way and peoples get paid every time. But ICICI policy change every day.

Do tell them that RBI rules allowed to deposite the check in the USA Date format or you can deposite the cheque in USA branch of ICICI Bank if someone live in USA whom you knows.

I stopped dealing with ICICI once they told me that their is difference between words and numeral amount. Let me tell you how. My cheque was something like that Rs. 12100 and was written as "One hundred twenty one thousand only". In India it should be written as "One lakh twenty one thousand". I had to explain seniors of the bank after then they deposited my cheque. Now i am using HDFC they are slow but dont have any problem.

I also have the same feelings to some extent for ICICI with Adbrite.. overall it is fine and it takes almost a month after I deposit the check that the money is credited into my account... but one month I found that even after more than a month my check amount was not there in my account.. so I called their customer service and they generated a request for it... after that they got the check and sent the check for international clearing after two days after I spoke to them... and then it took almost two months for my check to be cleared although it normally takes one month.

Moreover, the customer service of ICICI and even the NRI services at the banks does not know properly about foreign banks.

But I am still continuing with ICICI because I find the rest of the Indian banks even more worse.

Regarding using M2India, I would highly advise anybody to use paypal instead. I tried to withdraw some of my paypal money around a month ago and it only took around two or three business days and the money was deposited into my HDFC account free of cost (withdrawal of Rs.7000 or more are free of charge and for withdrawals of less than Rs.7000, there is a charge of Rs.50). Paypal is a great service.

I do also appreciate ICICI for its domestic service and I have a few accounts with ICICI and still feel it is one of the best banks in India with significant amount of ATMs too. ICICI is a good bank but not that much for international transactions or services.
