I suggest you check out WebHostingTalk.com or FreeWebSpace.net/forums, as most hosts here are either really new or have tonnes of special offers ;) Although I may be wrong!

    Good luck :)

lol.. You must try hostgator, hostican or bluehost. All three of em are simply the best and way better in terms of everything than anyone in here. Trust moi :)

For once Freddy and I agree on something! :)

You don't need to be in business for 2+
    to provide the best.

We do it every day ,, Just on a smaller client ratio, than hostgator.

Actually, most companies provide hosting on Quad Cores, 4 gb ram! And most companies offer a good uptime, in fact some of these small companies offer a "SLA" which i don't think Hostgator does ?

More clients doesnt mean better, its very often the other way! More clients means shittyer, as the company dont have to much time in the world and cant give each individual client the fast response and quality time he needs!

There are some big hosts (1&1!) that treated me horribly; whereas other big ones (HostGator!) are awesome... I think you just need to go by (real) testimonials instead of how many clients a company has...

I agree with you on the statement about service, but my home computer has Quad core and 4 GB of RAM. Keeping hosting servers up is pretty hard to do, I know because I used to manage servers, but as long as you keep checking things it should be fine, If you know what you're doing.

I cannot tell you how bad 1&1 has screwed me over, sending my website, domain and data to a collections agency because of a glitch in their system they didn't fix, and the support personnel couldn't do anything about it, it would take 3 days of "may I please speak to your superior" to get to anyone who had power over anything. Plus Hosts like HostGator and 1&1 oversell a LOT.

Lunarpages has been great for me. I have 12 sites on my shared plan for almost a year now with no problems. Also check out Hostmonster, Bluehost, and HostGator. Any major requirements other than what you stated in your OP?

    Hi
I was not looking to knock hosts that have been running less than 2 years, but I have experience of startups dissapearing after 1 or 2 months, I thought if a company has been running for 2 or more years it should minimise my risk of loss of the site etc

Thanks again - keep them comming

esp. true if you go for "the cheapest" ...

If troubleavoiding is the main goal, I'd always go for a hoster from my home country. In case of any legal problems it always makes things easier if only the law of your own country is involved. And maybe I'd not really go for the cheapest ...

    Hi,

From the sounds of things we are just who you are looking for, I run a web host called redihot.com, our servers are underloaded (check webhosting.info and enter redihot.com, you'll see theres only a few customers on that server), I've been providing webhosting through redihot for just under 3 years, we've got cpanel x3 (latest edition) / fantastico / rvskin (optional). Lastly, if you signup to any shared hosting plan, send me a message and I'll set you up a free domain? .com, .net, .org, .name, .info. On our croft plan you'll get 300mb hosting, 6gb space, and 7 databases, and a 99.95% Uptime Guarantee (that we've stuck to for the last 3 years). Also, our servers are paid in advance with a company who've been around since 1999.

PM me for more info if you need it.

    Thanks
