People here are always asking, "How do I learn SEO?" Well, IMO there is no better way to jumpstart your SEO knowledge than to attend Pubcon. It's a search marketing conference put on by WebmasterWorld.com once or twice a year that is excellent. They seem to always have a Vegas Pubcon in Nov/Dec, and then sometimes have another in the spring. I'm just curious who all plans to attend Pubcon. If you've never been, it's an awesome experience. Not only do that have lots of great keynotes and great sessions on everything from SEO, PPC, social networking, etc. run by industry greats, you actually get to meet people like Matt Cutts one-on-one between sessions, at your breakfast/lunch table, and more importantly... after hours at the often impromptu get togethers in restaurants and clubs in the various casinos. I've been the last 3 years... I've been registered since June. If you've never been and you're serious about SEO, I highly recommend it. If you plan to go, please respond here. If you also subscribe to webmasterworld.com and intend to go, post your WMW username so I can look for you there! Perhaps we can schedule a time/place for all the DP'rs to get together! I want to go but with flight and hotel I'm not left with much cash. There seem to be a lot of ticket options, I can't afford the full $899 what would be a good ticket to buy for a one day option in your opinion. I'm pretty advanced been around and so on but I think that the networking possibilities could be tremendous not that I wouldn't like to learn more and listen to all the speakers. So what ticket would you buy if you only had a couple hundred for it? And what day is best to really meet people. I'm pretty outgoing so as long as their around I think I'll make some close friends and "connections".
Nope - can't make this one (it's a HUGE mission flying in from my part of the world) but was at SES. I have to agree that if you're serious about SEO you HAVE to hit the conferences... That's where you learn the GOOD stuff! E.g. I was at the Ask.com party in NY when they "retired" Jeeves. I can act all smarmy because I'm one of a handfull of people that really knows what hapened to him and got free beer all night Oh - you can also learn some stuff about ranking as well but it's not as much fun...
Not sure which day is best for socializing. I've always been the whole week. Getting there Sun... leaving Friday. Most of the "good" socializing happens at night IMO in the bars and restaurants after the sessions. They don't usually announce "where" these little impromptu get togethers are happening until the day of... like in the sessions... or using Tweets. I just received an email today from Treasure Island... $59USD/night from now to January 28,2010. Just mention OFFER TI72HR to get the rate... 800-288-7406. DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated or paid by Treasure Island LOL. Just passing along some discount info if peeps are wanting to go!
