You should be careful about generalising too. I know of many guys who don't look at porn, and some of them are very good friends of mine. You should have said, "The majority of guys who say they don't look at porn, or watch porn are lying."

 You state that that's your opinion, and in the same sentence you say it's not fact. I fail to see the logic in that. Are you trying to make yourself believe a lie, then??

What, like woman and crying? :p Look, you're basically saying that the minute a guy says he doesn't look at porn he's a liar? That's very sexist.

No, they're not vocal about the acts of willing adults per se, they're normally against the 'free-for-all' attitude. To them it should be reserved for marriage (and I can see their point of view. A lot of social problems are caused by people who are unable to cope emotionally (or mentally) with a very active or sometimes 'loose' sexual lifestyle. Thus, a lot of people get hurt)

I don't like porn all that much because I've seen what happens (especially to the woman) when they get pulled into some very ****** up stuff like the violence porn and degrading porn (where the woman are treated literarly like dogs, etc), and let's not start on kiddie porn. I just wish that there were better securities in place to a) keep it 'clean' and b) prevent those who aren't allowed to view it (eg, underage people) to get it. However, this is the net we're talking about here...

However we do have a lot to thank the porn industry for with regards to the internet technology. better security, payment systems, better file formats, streaming video (if i remember correctly), etc...

I would like to see the list of people that got hurt.

Weak people get trampled on period. If they are getting hurt from porn then they are the same kind of weak people that have abusive relationships and will not leave, or will answer the email that they won 50 mil in the Canada lottery and gladly give the bank account info.

Now for kiddie porn I agree it exists. In my Ten plus years in the industry I have only seen it three times and NONE were from US companies. Kiddie porn is circulated by groups of criminals traded on message boards and not Main Stream Adult Companies. We were pretty quick to toss child porn into the mix though. My count is Good Porn 127 million - Kiddie Porn 3. :p

WARNING: This post has turned into a BOOK - sorry for the long post :( Just had to say it

Sex is compelling to the baser instincts of humanity, and that drive is simply leveraged by proliferators of pornography to optimize its effective ROI - in that sence its just business as normal.

One thing I've noticed is that there seems to be two fronts in the effort to promote porn. One front is a battle waged publically to introduce porn as a more mainstream aspect of everyday life - to normalize it.

We see mainstream movies and even TV moving to more evocative situations, language, exposure etc and we are likely to continue to see more as porn continues to permiate mainstream awareness and acceptance.

On the other hand there is the push for the 'private addictions' that are perpetuated by the ease of access, and the near-anonymity offered by the internet. This is a bit worrisome because of its secretive nature and the lack of accountability, and peer feedback.

But looking at it all from an semi-objective perspective the truth of the matter is - There ARE people who ARE hurt by pornography. Mentally, emotionally, socially. There ARE people who benefit from it financially, and make out great(no pun intended). There ARE people who are repressed and miss out on many health opportunities for sexual expression in healthy relationships. On the other hand there ARE deviates who have exposed their mind to so much pornography that the line between normal healthy sexuality and socially unacceptable behavior has blurred. ALL of these things are true, and I'm sure that everyone has a point.

The bottom line is - Everyone is reponsible for judging themselves against the 'line' they choose for themselves. That right extends as far out as a person feels they need it to - right up until the point it encrouches on another persons right to make THEIR own choices.

At the end of the day we have to look at ourself and ask...The things I've done today, did they make me better. A better spouse, a better parent, a better friend, a better person...? Did I hurt someone else in order to achieve my own goals..? Did my choices effect the morals and ethics that I'VE chosen to make MYSELF accountable to..?

Slamming a person because they choose to place limitations on themselves seems closed minded and defensive to me. Refering to all producers, proliferators, and users of porn as 'perverts' may be taken as the same thing.

Whats my opinion...? My instinct is to be highly interested in the female human form, and particularly with sexual gratification in mind, but part of what makes my marital relationship so fulfilling is that I choose to explore that interest with-in a healthy monogamous relationship with a real live person for whom I care deeply and seek to build a lasting meaningful relationship with.

For me, I find that pornography isn't necesarry and can negatively effect the emotional intimacy I have with my spouse. So I try to keep myself from venturing there by focusing that interest and instinct on its intended purpose - a physically and emotionally intimate foundation for my marital relationship.

Again - Everyone has to choose their own paths, but I've found mine to be ..er.. very satisfying.

From this statement its clear the majority of friends of yours lie to you :p

    ok my turn! :D

    Historically,
Porn has harmed far less people than:
Religion, coffee, governments, batteries, sugar, media, guns, cigarettes, cars, fridges, aerosoles, blah blah.

Infact I have never seen porn harm anyone (although I ve never really looked out for it!) - Its what people do with it - ie lie, deny etc.

BTW: child + animal porn is CHILD + ANIMAL ABUSE, not Porn.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------

ST.. WTF is that ignorant rubbish ? there are 1 BILLION muslims - if it was true there needs to be 70 Billion virgins and do you think the world would exist if 1 Billion people were going to be rewarded with lots of virgins for blowing people up????

According to Islam life is SACRED - hence taking life UNLESS in complete self defence is UNISLAMIC.

Its very sad to see that you will listen to 2 minutes of a biased news report and quote it like its FACT.

Go READ the Q'uran, read up on Sharia Law. - there are BIG differences Before you insight religious hatred like that.

The basic principle is this (ill keep it in bitsize for for ya - please excuse any minor inaccuracies and maybe someone muslim here can expain better) -
If you are a religion of 'the book' (bible) then a Islam MUST protect you. The religions of the book are JUDAISM and CHRISTANITY. The only real fundemental difference is this: a disagreement about who is the LAST PROPHET. Mohammed or Jesus. Hindus and other 'non book' religions are not considered 'sacred' in the same way.

    SO,
ST, I have a spare copy of the q'uran I can send to you, pm me your address ;)

Also, ST - Show me ONE example of porn being bad - unless you are referring to the scripts, music and production qualities..

I was thinking of purchasing a porn site that made around 10k or so a month. But the price they wanted was just insane. I also decided that maybe I should shy away from them, so many variables in running it.
