No, but I wouldn't mind making that much lol... As a lot of people, I'm not close in making that much at all, either.
I didn't confirm nor deny for a reason really. I simply wanted to let people know it can be done. Be creative. If you can't code your "idea" yourself invest the money to hire someone who can. If it costs you a few thousand to make something that no one else has or does do it. Especially viral things.. Social things.. Things that appeal to women, consumers, and kids / teens. DO NOT wait until a youtube site comes out then try and create a youtube clone.. It will never work like that. People who do that waste time and resources and money trying to take a big idea and replicate. Sure you might get a few users, a few ad clicks, however you'll never make another youtube. Don't charge memberships or sell anything. Make your money with ppc ads on the pages. There's some good companies out there that are good payers besides google. Invest your earnings into more domains to develop more things.. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Build your own traffic circle with your own sites and recycle your own traffic, find new and innovative traffic means, don't rely on search engines for visitors!.. These are some tips I can offer. If you do things right you can make ALOT more than 100k easily inside a year. Oh one more.. once you've got your one of a kind potentially huge site - Spend the 500.00 on the biggest press release package you can buy on PRWeb as it will do a few things.. Major news exposure, long term traffic and thousands of instant backlinks that last years ! .. Don't even consider buying the smaller packages if you really want explosive growth. If you create a website about a topic no one cares about.. Sadly there is nothing that will help it grow.. Think outside the box when developing. Be ingenius and if you have to work at McDonalds to save for a year before you can afford the big project do it! ..
I'm not missing the big picture buddy :] that's why i'm going to school, and aggressively pursuing my major in physiology, aspiring to receive my PhD in sports physiology one day, even though masters is where the money's at. Winning is winning. Have you ever noticed there are people who win @ everything? and there are people who lose @ everything? of course you have your "tweeners" but I truly believe that winners are winners no matter what. Same with losers. A winner won't win every single battle in his life, but he'll know that the battles he loses are merely learning experiences. For a loser, the battles he/she loses are complete tragedies. You can tell a coach with a losing mentality: his plan isn't designed after something that's proven to be successful. Therefore he is discouraged by loses, surprised by wins You can tell a coach with a winning mentality: His whole system and plan is created from someone else's success or a combination of many people's successful plan's combined into one. therefore he is disappointed, yet motivated by losses and even though he always expects victory, it's atleast somewhat of a pleasantry. No, the other coaches aren't sitting on their asses, doing nothing. They're doing EVERYTHING THEY CAN! And That's the problem If your a coach and your busy working your ass off all the time trying to create a and establish a system. then honestly? your toast. Some coaches try to create a brand-new system on what they think might work, instead of finding a system that already works, and adjusting it so it compensates for their weaknesses and amplifies their strengths. If your a coach you should be busy working your ass off trying to figure out a way, on how to adjust your already proven system to beat the upcoming opponent Failed business owners are working their ass off, because they're desperately searching to create a system that works for them. Either that, or they're not looking for a system in the first place, they're trying to figure out how they can make money, instead of how to establish a system that fulfills needs. Successful business owners are successful, because they are proactively searching for a way on how their system can "tackle" their next objective Sure business owners can think they have the best plan available but the greatest business owner knows he has one of the better business models, because it's already been proven to work time and time again. You don't have to create anything you just have to see what works and add your own genius to it Every single person on this earth has their own little genius, but very few of us get the chance to bring it out. that's the difference between a successful business owner and a failed business owner the opportunity to showcase our genius. Society naturally puts a fear on the entrepreneur to come up with something completely new. Society makes the entrepreneur believe that "that won't work anymore, because too many people are doing it". There's nothing wrong with creativity. But in order to be creative and successful you must know what works and what doesn't
agree with me or not, i am glad you have a backup source of funding through school. And no matter what you say, there are no gaurantees in business. little genius, big genius, this is too abstract. unfortunately, the statistics do not lie. I would have to say the best quality a person can have is passion for what they are doing. That passion will drive you to be innovative or tough it out during hard times. For the most successfull business people, passion is not a learned trait, but you are born with it. find your passion everyone.
I know of a few folks pulling these kind of numbers... and the interesting thing is... most of them are doing it with just one site. Sure they have lots of sites, but most have one big earner. Moral of the story... if you are spreading your time across 5-10 sites... but one is starting to take off... perhaps try channeling more of your time and energy into that site to really help it take off... Good luck!
What's the big deal about $100,000 a year? Hell, that's just a decent job salary for the educated. If you have a family and live in a decent area, you damn near need that much just to get by. Keep in mind that I'm in the USA and not in a rural town. I know that people in like the Philippines can live like a king for a few thousand a month.
I know plenty how make 100K+ from websites, but I know no-one who earns it from PPC or affiliate commissions. The fact is if you run your site like a businesses instead of a desperate attempt to grab some easy cash, you will make that money soon enough.
I agree with you on the second point, but I disagree on the first point. The majority of jobs are starting well in the 5 digits category 50+ range. So it's not a decent job for the educated....it's a great job! but your second point is right on, if you have a family, 100,000 is barely enough to get by. This is why i'm surprised of how many people act like *gasp* 100K a year!? I truly believe I can put myself to make 100K a year, through a month of hardwork and dedication. You don't need a traditional website to run a business. all you need is an autoresponder and a landing page to become an internet millionaire. I've seen it done too many times.
See guys i have my target of making $100000000000000 a second and am i just seconds away from achieving that target. I hope that second will be next second. But I have a second thought on that, why should I earn this money, when I can die any second. So for the second the i am postponing my target. See you in a second.
Off topic but that school is right down the street from me! Good post. Everyone I knew there was a VERY good sports person though they had some rather odd traditions. (... we'll not get started there) On topic. I'm thankful my parents really invested a lot into my online education (they spent over $50,000 trying to start a business with me). That business failed but more importantly I learned SO much that now I am able to run a business that will exceed 6 figures this year and I hope to exceed 7 figures in 1 year. Thankfully, I started building sites when I was 13 and now when I'm 20, I can do it full time. Really, it takes years of dedication and learning from failures to be able to get to the point that you're making 6 figures. A lot of you make many good points, many are wrong, many are true. (IMO at least)
I agree that if you were making $100k per year you would not be working for anyone else, but would want to do online work fulltime instead to earn even more. Other than that, I don't think many would say if they are earning this much more not as it will just get people copying what you do, even if you don't list your site, you can still probably do a little research into some usernames and find that they have listed their site somewhere on the forum or another forum with the same username, etc.
More than the site... it's how you get traffic. I have a friend who has made upwards of $1500+ a day promoting an offer. He let some people know and then shortly after, his LP was copied to the T. Do those people get the same results? Nope. Because it's all about how you get traffic to your site. Either way, you're sorta right. Which is why many affiliate marketers dont share their url's anywhere and host the money makers on private dedicated servers.
One think i have noticed about most highly successful affiliate marketers, is that most of them think alike. I've studied successful affiliate marketers, and most of them approach the business the same way. what way is that? I can't tell you guys! lol. u have to find out for yourself. I've just noticed that great minds think alike, and affiliate marketing is no exception.
I'll just assume we're talking net, and 100k from an online business is nothing to scoff at. It's incomparable to a job, mostly because of the growth potential (afterall, you probably started out making 0), but also because it's a business. If set up correctly, that's a 100k you don't have to work 8 hours a day to make. Hell even if you do have a job making 100k, having an online business making 100k also seems like a good plan to me. Nonetheless, it's not easy. If it was easy everybody would be making that much online, which is impossible because it's just like every other market. Everybody can't be making money, it has to come from somewhere...
