Hello, I know a lot of people here are interested in where to find writer, and how much they should pay, but do you think of copy as something you just need, or do you think that it's s somethingworth investing in to make your site more effective? Has anyone here got a content strategy for example?
Content should be thought of as an investment. Content creates a reputation for your website and the information found on it. It defines a certain style simply by looking at how it's written. Content is also the most direct way to reach your customers/readers. So yeah...I would invest in great content. Granted, I'm a content writer, but I've seem a lot of websites with copy that is just boring, hard to read, or un-informative. That's why people hire writers - to go above the normal and really deliver something new and interesting. And then the customers come back...again and again...and they bring friends.
Sneakyheathen's got the picture here. People use and burn time on the Internet to find great stuff. They want to learn, be amazed, be entertained...sometimes, as opposed to doing work :V The job here is to fill that need. If you're looking to get attention on the Internet, you don't even have an option-you need content that grabs people, period. It's not as hard as you think. I mean, just look at Dramatic Chipmunk. You can't really predict how well it'll turn out, so you might as well provide the best material you can.
Content is king. No question. A website with well-written content earns respect, credibility, interest, and return visits. A website that uses content that has been slapped together by a "cheap-cheap" writer with little command of the English language, no idea of grammar and whose niche is $2 articles written for "bulk orders" is a joke. If you want to build up credibility and a long term business, guess where you need to put your money.
Depends on what you are looking for. People buying the $2 articles usually don't want visitors to stay on the site. They are looking to have search terms that Google will send traffic to and to get the visitor off the site as soon as possible (hopefully in the form of an adsence click). Other money comes from link sales if they can get the PR up high enough. Of course that is the type of site that more legitimate site owners, and searchers would like to have Google keep out of the serps (which is what Google is trying to do)
I think content investing should be prioritized. It is content which gives information. It is content which establishes reputation. It is relevant content that people searches for. I believe that no matter how well a site looks, if the content sucks, it's useless. Invest on contents 'coz contents are necessity. How you'll write a better content? Write for your market and the search engines. Dont' forget to make it interesting, informative and comprehensible.
Horrible articles can be a blessing on MFA sites. People don't want to stick around and usually click on the ads!
