I am curious to know what everyone thinks of the autoblogs.

Personally I dislike them very much. What is the benefit? What is their purpose?

I have my blog content scraped and 'stolen' by these auto blogs. That is how I look at them - theivery and worthless duplication. Dont get mad at me if you have an auto blog, but that is my opinion.

OK now that i have gotten my rant out of the way what are your opinions on this?

They're great for promoting sites/rapid backlinks. 3 posts a day, every 10 days, insert a link for a money site. On a bunch of blogs, that's worth it. And yeah, they probably are thievery and duplication...uhh my bad.
    ;)

Well, backlinks are great, but not when you get your content stolen. I dislike them also.

I highly question the quality of a backlink from one of these type of blogs. Personally I would rather do without it and not have my content stolen.

The way I see it these guys are trying to make a profit off of my work. Every blog post I do represents my time and effort.

Never said I liked them. Just that I have a few, and I said the purpose. Honestly, I do have a bit of an ethical problem with it. Not enough to stop, but enough to make me try and make it as unobtrusive as possible.
I've been unsure though. I've always been willing to give a backlink, but I'm unsure as to if the person even would want a dirty link.
Already, the content gets modified so neither of us get hit by dupe content filters, but still. Also, I don't try and rank the blog high, so they get virtually no SE traffic.
I'll find a better article source eventually.

Is it possible that any of this type of blog actually gets real traffic and makes any earnings? I doubt it.

I think they are just another example of people trying to make money without actually doing anything. Perhaps their efforts could be more wisely spent doing something else?

no one likes them and no one with atleast half a brain reads them.

The only people that think they are great are those who make them.

    These are generally:
    1. Lazy People
    2. Those that lack imagination
    3. Those that lack creativity
    4. Those who want to make about $40 million a year on adsense, but only make about $4

Auto blogs are pointless. The big sites are those with original, unique content.

There are SO many out there. The amount of autoblogs that actually make ANY money worth talking about are about 1 in a million, maybe a hundred million, or even a billion?

You don't realize how they work bud...these guys(myself including) are not playing for adsense peanuts.
First off,One auto blog that stalks me has about 16k backlinks.
Second, my personal(albeit inactive for the time being) farm is currently at about 3300 blogs on 500-700 unique IPs. You think I'm dropping adsense on that? No. I keep em updating 3 times day, every day. Every, say, week or so, I submit a command that switches em to "advertising" mode, which means 3/5 of them post an entry at some point that day with a link to my site, and the desired anchor text. Voila. Instant ranking.
Sometimes, if the blogs look authentic enough, it even survives long term.

I typically report them to Adsense, as they are usually MFA sites.

I personally feel that the internet would be a better off without them. They do not add anything of value.

    i completely agree with you.

+ yes i see them purely as MFA, or "made for backlinks".

Yup, that is indeed 100% what they are. The ones I've seen haven't been MFA, but then again, mostly when I see them I'm investigating some competition in a niche. They're a backlink powerhouse. The only issue is it takes an absolutely massive amount of resources and content to keep them alive.

How do you deal with getting so much content?

Oh, and top site btw! Spent ages reading all your content. Great reading... even if I do lack the b*lls.

I think they are bad for the all bloggers. They do nothing but list duplicate information just to try to get the quick buck. It is ok to add some feeds to supplement your original bog posts but to run a site with just feeds is just a cheesy way to do blogging.

Personally i don't like them, they give bloggers a bad name and image.

    AutoBlogger: "I'm a blogger"
Normal Person: "cool, what blog do you own"
    AutoBlogger: "shouldn't you say blogs"
    Normal Person: "huh?"
AutoBlogger: "i own 500000000 of them"
Normal Person: "wow that must be a full time job"
AutoBlogger: "no, its easy i just steal others content"
    Normal Person: "damn blogging sucks"
