I was reading a marketing guide and read about a link building service called site submit wondering if anyone uses it? And if it has worked at all for at least a few months service?

Are you talking about submitting your site to web directories? Or submitting your feed to RSS directories? There are LOTs of type of submits like social bookmarking submission, article submission etc. etc. Which one are you referring to?

submitted to directories will get you backlinks which help you rank in google, which drive more traffic to your site.

I would suggest submitting to directories

Not all backlinks help you rank in Google. If the link is worthless, it does nothing for your ranking. And there are thousands, upon thousands, of worthless directories out there.

The key words in the posters question was 'a few months of service', which makes me wonder what the deal is too. I agree with other posters in knowing more detailed info, like a Url would be nice.

Is that a FULLY AUTOMATED submission service ??
    if so avoid it

automated systems have a hard time picking CORRECT category
and your site wont be approved and/or blacklisted on those directories
