Who has the better idea? How to make a living while building traction for a marketplace site?

    Hi, guys

I have been hearing about Digitalpoint recently from Pat Flynn's podcast (episode Glen/viperchill) and the article I met on Quora, so I am hoping to get some good ideas here. And if you think I can be of help on something, please also drop me a line.

Recently I founded a B to B social networking/marketplace site for Real Estate professionals to connect and collaborate on cross border transactions, it also comes with the emphasis of connecting realtors to real estate referral partners in China and Asia.

As my focus is to build the site and traction as a sole-founder without tech background, and the fact is that cracking Internet marketing in China is costly. There is so much things for me to do and spend on. Like almost everyone else, I need to find a way to generate revenue to support myself and freelancers and do something nice to my mom without worrying her.

Here is my site and the blog if you'd like to have a look. You can just go to the navigation in the bottom for different pages without signing up.

Below are some ideas that I think of. If you think otherwise and have other ideas. I'd love to hear from you.

    * China-based Virtual office service - While it is a viable idea, I still prefer to do something that can be salable. Plus I travel among Asia frequently so it can only happen when someone else can look after it.
    * Membership - I can only consider that after I have decent traffic
    * Affiliates marketing - Banners on my site when I am driving sign-ups..hm...
    * Podcast/Book - While my blog is well received because it's a niche topic (Chinese property buyers, or doing business in China), I can't imagine anyone wants to listen about this topic on regular basis. If it's about real estate marketing, then I don't have a real estate background to do this.
    * I do have some resources in Beijing and Shanghai (locals/expats/princelings/and some officials), but my intention is to make money online.

** I do know that I can try to get funding, but it's not my focus on users now for the following reasons- 1. Regardless my explanations, some investors still like to think my business is another "advertising platform" or another "broker selling overseas properties". 2. I can't count how many emails/messages I received from realtors telling me it's an awesome ideas. 3. I want to focus on the product/market fit than working out the valuation now.

Thanks and looking forward to your feedback.

    Regards,
    Tanya
