Who has the best Hosting?

Sorry If I put this in the wrong thread... couldn't decide if it should be in the business section under domains or what...

For domain names I use godaddy as I find them to be cheap and competitive - how about you guys?

Just wondering who people use for (virtual) hosting?

i used to use ddihosting but they sucked!

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks! :D

I love Godaddy! All my domains are there.

Do you mean VPS hosting? I am using powervps.com and couldn't be happier. Have a problem? Open a ticket and they will reply in less than 5 minutes. Amazing service, can't recommend them enough.

The internet is full of horror stories about hosting with Godaddy. Think of the idea of GoDaddy banning you from Google. Not a good thought!

ev1servers.net is #1 for web hosting.

GoDaddy is #1 for registration, but about last for hosting!

I used to be with ev1 but they are run so rinkydink... Its good for a homesite or lowbudget.

I switched all my servers to theplanet.com and have never looked back.

I also use godaddy for doamins. Love there bulk options and without there sniper/backordering i wouldnt have got some of my pr5-6 starter domains =)

Got my first domain through GoDaddy today - WOW

I've been using web.com - okay HUGE difference!!

I have been using web.com for hosting as well, but will be migrating away

www.Efxhost.com <-- another 'little guy' host but wow best customer service I've ever gotten - this guy likes what he does, and is very cool - if you're on a budget or are just looking for a host that you can reach on the phone or email anytime this is the guy.

Looking for the most stable and commercially trusted host..? www.RackSpace.com - but get out your pocket book and count your pennies - these cats KNOW they've got it going on, and you'll pay the premium price for the premium servers

RackSpace is hosting the JoeAnt directory so they must be good.
If all you want is cheap, I would go for http://www.webhost4life.com

    ok so you've got your

    powervps.com and ev1servers.net

... whats the difference between those and the really cheap ones that go for 5 bucks a month?

people pay $200+ a month for hosting???

AND... all things being equal (service etc...) is there a way to test the speed/quality of a hosting service? Is there a blacklist out there on the net that lists all the crap servers?

if you are running a serious business .. you wouldnt let you site down too often .. that's y people are willing to pay so much for a hosting account.

if you are only running a not-so-serious business or not real money maker site or even a hobby, you can go for a cheaper one.

    you pay what you get

Okay been thinking about what I need... Just wondering if anyone out there knows of any hosting service that can fill these minimum specs for the least money possible:

    - 2 domains
    - 500mb space
    - 2 gig transfer
    - unlimited subdomains

    Cheers!

Totally agreed! What you're willing to spend on web hosting depends on how serious you are bout your site. I believe the term most use to describe this is 'mission critical'

If you can say your site is mission critical, you'd want to get the best hosting you can afford.

I currently use www.unitedhosting.co.uk they so far have been very good, they have there own very active customer forums, which is full of praise for them. Don't be put off by the .co.uk the data center is in Texas, very quick.

I am not affiliated with them, apart from being a happy customer !

Nintendo is reffering to one incident that was rectified.

I use them for a few of my sites but ones I need anything advanced at all, I go to more expensive hosts.

    GoDaddy has their uses

What about ThirdSphere? It comes with a whole lot of package and freebies. Has anyone tried that? I signed up to be their affiliate but haven't done anything much yet.

I've just signed up with site5.com as my second host - I've read a lot of good stuff about them and so far, they've been really good and helpful.
