I heard about the new Google update about boosting rankings for sites with "HTTPS", so i wanted to know how many people have implemented this and are seeing positive changes in the rankings of their sites in Google search result pages?
You're not going to see immediate or large changes in ranking based on HTTPS. Google was very clear in their announcement that HTTPS is a small indicator and will remain so for some time. It is better to implement HTTPS for the security benefits than for any SEO benefit. To answer your question, I have implemented HTTPS on a number of sites and I have not seen any change in ranking over the past month.
I did it about 2-3 weeks ago and did not notice any significant changes. I don't expect to have any SEO benefit from HTTPS on the short term, but on the long term, I do believe there will be a direct or at least an indirect benefit against competition for everyone. In other words, I don't think one is loosing time or money by investing in secured connections now.
There is no point in changing the Http to Https if you have a website that don't have payment options or some data that needs to be secured. People who place Https have not seen any changes but some of them have dropped their traffic and rankings.
There is no reason to go with HTTPs as it's mainly used for SECURITY reason if you are doing STRONG transactions like a bank for example! If you have a normal blog or a small website, such certificate won't help you!
I don't know if it was a fluke or something screwy, but when I migrated my escort agency site to https my rankings jumped from 12 postion in the SERPs for Sydney Escorts to 6th - so I dunno..
