Who has a football (soccer) website?

My soccer website (www.soccerly.com) has a sudden rise of visits in the last three days. It only averages 200 visits a day, then it shoot up to 1,000 a day.

What could have caused this? Is it because of the on going football transfers? Particularly, the Kaka and Ronaldo news?

I also exchanged link with a site with PR3, and the anchor text i used was "soccer news" then it can now be seen in the second page in Google. It was in in 35th to 40th page prior to that. Could this be the reason too?

I'm a bit concerned about this, my webhost might complain for being a resource hog, and let me upgrade or transfer to another host. The site is not earning that much.

What do you use to record stats?

Have a look at it, and you'll be able to find out the reason for your surge in traffic.

It could be from the SE's, or somebody very popular might just have linked to you.

    I use Awstats.

Looks like a search engine traffic. Or could it be some kind of spider bots?
