You NEVER pay anyone to market your site.

Your money is better spent learning SEO and then paying people to do minor tasks.

You never let the control of your website go into other people's hands.

I would say that I outsource my backlinking to various freelancers, but do all of my promoting (getting the word out about my website) by myself. Nobody better understands my website and its audience than me, so I definitely take matters in my own hands at that point. But for building boring ass backlinks? Yeah I would outsource that.

Some SEO methods like backlinking are easily done by freelancers. That said, be very careful who you hire! You will get alot of these people who don't speak good English and post nonsensical comments, forums posts etc. This has potential to give your company a bad rep.

When outsourcing basic processes like data entry, linkbuilding etc, I often hire someone who is not necessarily and expert in the process, but is reliable, honest, has good English and is willing to learn. I find it is much better to teach someone how to create quality links/enter data etc, than to use some moron who does what I mentioned above.

If you are looking to outsource some basic business processes, PM me. I may be able to help.

I'd agree with doing it in house or learning the basics yourself. It'll help you out by knowing in the long run.

I would say definitely learn some the basics, otherwise you don't always know if the quality is good and if you're getting ripped off. BUT why waste your time and money doing everything in house? If it is not your core business then outsource... Every big and successful company outsources!

Outsourcing can be good if you need specific tasks done. Like submitting articles to article directories, creating twitter accounts and gaining followers, etc. Of course, you'll need to know the basics of SEO and what you're actually trying to achieve with these tasks.

what you can do is go to www.fiverr.com and pay 5 bucks to someone who will: create content for your site, send your site to search engines, or create backlinks. really a great place to start.

I don't pay anything, never have. I was getting about 300,000 people day, but it's dropped to 70,000. 19,000 of that comes from google.

Your best bet is to outsource SEO article writing/onsite seo , google adwords and social media marketing

Stick with those 3 and you'll be good. Search engine optimization is the MOST important!

I am currently trying using Elance to work on my sites, as I don't have time to do everything but I think I am coming to the conclusion its cheaper and quicker to manage the promotion yourself and outsource each individual task - why would I want to submit to directories or submit articles when there are people prepared to do it for less than I charge my time at?

You can hire some one to do seo works for you but it needs money. If you want seo companies, it will cost a lot but you can find some freelancer search engine optimizers to help you with cheaper price.
Also if you are not in hurry, you can wait and learn seo to do it yourself but it takes some months.
