Hey i read a thread about you guys buying your own servers? What hosting companies allow you to use your own servers (I guess you would only pay for space/bandwidth then)... Just wondering =D

Due to the number of domains I own and the number of web experiments I hold, my hosting services are Servage.net, Netfirms.com, Atomic-Hosting.net, Ucvhost.com, Bbdimension.com and Ionhosting.com instead of a webserver

Any company that lets you co-locate your equipment will let you do it.

Basically you build your server & send it to the datacenter. They put it on their network, keep it dust free & make sure it's up. Some may offer hardware replacement in case of failure for an extra fee.

So you are in all fairness paying for bandwidth (using their network) & electricity.

If you're in India, check out relianceidc.com. They even offer an office along with your server. Neat datacenter, I've been there physically.

If I am doing colo, I like to be local.

If I am doing shared hosting or virtual hosting, I don't care so much where the servers are located.

It's actually cheaper in the long run, and is the best option when you've got big bandwidth needs IMO.
