I don't know of any "gurus." Many who say that they are, spout off the same ol crap, like seo, post in boards, do link exchange.... They just repeat the same shit that doesn't work that well to begin with. And they don't have that many hits in their site anyway! I really wouldn't call them gurus, per say, but anyone who can get hundreds of thousands up to millions of monthly hits from advertising and word of mouth are the ones I pay attention to. Askmen.com, for example, got their first million within their first 18 months of operation. Shoemoney and Chow got hundreds of thousands of monthly hits in short order, too. Say what you want about them, you have to admire such a record. Gurus? No. But they and others like them are the REAL marketers out there.
The people who are rich and know about long term cash. NOt people who sell and e-book and have bling bling on thier phoney face.
I think there are some guys out there that are absolute Gurus. Some of the people out there are geniuses and everything they touch turns to green. But these guys don't do SEO, they work in ads and ad copy. Some of the better ones are in the info business and they sell e-books. Those guys know how to write copy that sells and to me, that's a marketing guru. I have to disagree about the eBook guys. The guys you see selling the $1000 e-book, if they're actually converting, they are the gurus. If you can sell a 20 page eBook for $1000, you are obviously doing something right. Maybe they're not gurus, but I know someone who became millionaire selling eBooks. I Wish I could do it This is only my opinion.
3 people I think will give you a lot of real, profitable info without pushing and hyping every new launch: Marlon Sanders Matt Bacak Jonathan Leger I get great ideas just by reading their newsletters, whereas most "gurus" just send you email after email telling you why you should buy the next best thing from their affiliate link.
Stephen Pierce. If anyone doesn't know him, you should now. http://www.dtalpha.com/talkback No fluffs no fillers. No crap to be simple.
GuruDaq has great feedback on all the known gurus. For my money, though, no one beats Jimmy D. Brown. - Bill
